Our mobile network is evolving.

Great news! Our mobile network is evolving, and you’ll have access to VoLTE (Voice over LTE) when it becomes available on our LTE network. Your calls will then use our LTE network instead and you’ll enjoy better sound quality among other things. 

 

First thing first, your SIM card. 

To stay ahead of the game, you need a VoLTE compatible SIM card. If you ordered your Fizz SIM card between September 2021 and today, you’re good. Your SIM card is compatible with VoLTE and shows a red lightning bolt icon. 

 

Several batches of invitations. 

For all of you who currently have a 3G SIM card, Fizz will see that each and everyone of you gets a FREE VoLTE compatible SIM card. You’ll receive an email invitation to order it. This process will take place over several weeks, so don’t worry if you’re not part of the first batch.

The original post from Fizz says SIM card emails will take place over "several weeks". That was NINE MONTHS ago.

I wonder why they even posted it.

So nine months later most of us are still waiting for VOLTE to roll out. I'm down to about five weeks before my trip to USA and still no idea if either myself or my partner will have phone/text even though we are switching to Canada/USA plan.

This is not a good rollout, in my humble opinion.

Sorry to read you're having bad luck. In my case they sent me the invitation to switch to the new SIM card "too early" - I was away on vacation, and by the time I returned the invite had expired 😅 but the customer support fixed it.

I guess any number of years are also several weeks or dozens or hundreds of weeks.

Generally something isn't expressed in "weeks" if it's going to be multiple months or a year

no worries, agreed. don't worry, be happy. happier once I have VoLTE on my phone too though

"Pixel" are very standard phones from Google so I have good hopes they'll be.

If you know someone who has a Videotron phone account, you can always try the Videotron Sim card in the 4XL phone to see if it works. My girlfriend has a LG K61 phone and it's VoLTE with Videotron even if it's not on any VoLTE list.

So when is this going to happen?

Yes, I know, thanks! I made a mistake and reported myself 😉

Got the e-mail about being migrated, but no luck so far. According to Fizz support I basically need to hope that they add my Pixel 4a to the certified list. Considering that Fizz sold this phone at one point and it's certified with Videotron, you'd hope but apparently that doesn't mean much.
