I got great news from Fizz yesterday that my line was being migrated over to LTE and I should have Volte enabled within 48 hrs. Sure enough, this morning I tested by making a phone call and my LTE signal was stable and did not switch to 3G. Thank you Fizz!! Oh, and I’ve been with Fizz from the start (early beta tester) so…

As far as I know you can’t use personal hotspot on iPhone 5 because Fizz data is not supported on this device. You can use iPhone 5 for calling and texting only.

Full network went down for me at 9am here in Ottawa.

Dropped call problem is fixed (for me). Since yesterday evening. I hope for everyone else too.
-
I was just about to write the same thing. 3 beeps and call drops. This issue is an old one that hasn't happened to me since last fall. I think it's back again because of yesterday's service outage. Hopefully it will be fixed quickly.

@ fizzy, I have 4 lines here. Backup is certainly a good idea.

Not looking for compensation. Just a reliable network!

Yes, you can send picture messages only if you have data on your plan. If you do have data and can't send picture messages check your APN settings. You can set the APN settings in Android only. https://fizz.ca/en/faq/what-are-fizz-network-settings-apn For iPhone you must update to the latest iOS release.

VoLTE, WiFi Calling.

Try turning LTE off and then send or receive messages on 3G. Then turn LTE back on. Second option. Connect to FizzEXT and try sending messages.
-
Ravnoor is correct. You should always have roaming on anyways, to access data outside Quebec and Ottawa. Turn roaming off only if you travel outside Canada and USA. If you didn't get an add-on on for a particular country.dans Using data in the USA with a Canada+USA coverage plan? Commentaire de Nicolas H. 848 décembre 2018

With VoLTE the call quality is much better, and your phone remains at LTE all the time, it doesn't need to switch to 3G to make calls. That's about it. It's not a deal breaker for me. :)

I have LTE again here in Ottawa (Kanata). But at home LTE sucks, I only get about 5-8 mbs downloads band 4. Was actually doing better with 4G @ 10-20 mbs downloads. Different cell towers. LTE is much better when I connect to band 12 LTE.

Great community spirit Daniel. Merry Christmas :)

The transfer has not been completed. You will get a message from Fizz telling you that the number has been ported successfully. Then you will have full service. It may take a few hours or even a day or two.

Ottawa down to 3G from 4G :(
-
@Rener L, It's possible that the problem you are having is a known iOS 12.1.1 issue. Worth taking a look at that too. Here's one report here:…

I just experienced that. Thank you for the update!

Look at the link. Look at the answer to the question just posted 3 hours ago. Then somehow emailed 100 times

I went to New York and New Jersey and Pennsylvania a month ago. Service was great, mostly had AT&T and some T-Mobile. Lost signal briefly in PA mountains. Anywhere AT&T or T-MO have service, you'll have the same service LTE, etc.
-
@Allison W. Just read it, thanks for the update :)
-
@Timothy H, 4G is actually 3.5G not LTE. Right now, at least in my region we can only get HSPA+ (4G). This is better than 3G, but much slower than LTE. On an iPhone you would only see 3G indicated, but on many Android phones it will show 4G.
-
Holding steady at HSPA+ and 5-6 mbs downloads speeds in Ottawa. At least I haven't had total outage today, and everything else works. ;)dans Is there an outage right now? Monday night at 8:30pm Commentaire de Nicolas H. 848 décembre 2018

@Rob M. So they direct us to last Saturday's update?? Hahahaha PRICELESS!
-
Looks like 3G/3.5G HSPA are the best speeds we are getting throughout the Ottawa area so far today (3:30 pm)
-
Definitely not ready for prime time! Extend beta period!!
-
At this time the system doesn't tell you how long messages will be saved. I saved a couple of messages and will soon find out. :) What I want to know is if saved messages count against the 10 message quota Fizz states that can be in the voicemail box. I guess only time will tell us.
-
@Emre Y, No it doesn't work like it should. But, with the system still in beta I don't mind the extra security. :)
-
When it's working properly, disabling security allows you to access voice mail from your own phone without entering a PIN. That's when it works properly. :)
-
At least we have data although only 3G and 3.5G, and most of us have all the other services working while Fizz staff work on restoring the network. Much better than what was happening yesterday.dans Still on 3G. ETA for when LTE access will be restored? Commentaire de Nicolas H. 848 décembre 2018
