It has been working for me all over Sherbrooke since at least 4:30. For data anyway, I don't know if have missed any calls or sms.

When you changed routers it would have been recognized as a different network and probably set the firewall to treat it as a public network by default. Try changing the network type to private for starters. I don't know anything about Fizz's modem/router but it might also be set to separate the wireless and wired portions…

Why are you all answering without knowing the answer? This phone is a 2G (only works for Fizz Ext which isn't a valid long-term option) or 3G-only phone. The 3G frequencies it supports do not overlap with Fizz's 1700/2100 spectrum range, so it will only connect to Fizz Ext for 3G and you'll have your account disconnected…

Just to add, you're incorrect that the email services Tom listed have no concept of an outbound SMTP connection. All email is sent via SMTP and this has always been the case (using any relevant definition of always). Including Gmail, yahoo, and outlook (the former Hotmail not the application).
-
Shreyamsha that advice is out of date. It used to be the case that SMTP connections were anonymous and Internet providers would block port 25 to force customers to use their own SMTP server as an anti-spam measure. But these days they don't do that anymore and people usually use blacklisting, logins, and encrypted…

Your phones have all the necessary frequency band support for both data and voice calls. The resending network parameters doesn't work for me either, but all the phones I've used are perfectly compatible with Fizz. If calls but not data services are working for you I see only 2 options: 1) your APN settings are wrong…

I changed my plan minutes after getting the email about my beta period ending and I was able to do it, but then I got locked out for the next two days just like you. But there was another thread yesterday from a subscriber who didn't change their plan after receiving the email and instead chose to cancel, but the…

Joseph, Alain answered it himself. Are you suggesting he needs to select his own answer as the best one - can you even do that?

It's interesting that whatsapp and instagram worked. I wonder what's different about those apps. In any case, it's definitely important to always make sure you fill out the right fields when setting up an APN and as you noted there are some seemingly redundant fields, but they're not.
-
Interesting, I got the same email earlier this week and promptly changed my plan because I didn't need to continue with the large amount of data I had selected for the beta period. I didn't continue to get charged the beta price, however. I wonder now if I should have left it alone for one more month to have more data and…

M is right, this has nothing to do with Fizz. You have to set up your email app correctly and then it will work with whatever data service you connect to.

It looks like all versions of that phone have the frequency support for LTE data, but not all support voice calling/texting when connected to LTE, maybe that's the problem you're experiencing? Do you know which version you have (Global, AT&T, Sprint, etc.)?

Like several others have said, this isn't a mistake and it isn't exclusive to Fizz. Other carriers have had similar language in their contracts for quite some time.

My beta ended two days ago. They gave me about 2 days notice that it was ending and I would be transitioned to the introductory prices. But I wanted to change my plan options so I did that right away and the new plan is what I got charged for.

Hi Lake, the locking thing is done with but if you manage to get one that's old stock then it can still be locked. A good lesson for anyone else picking up an unloved vanilla phone from Loblaws...these things aren't big sellers and could require an unlock from the original carrier. Thanks for sharing your solution!

It looks that way.

https://m.gsmarena.com/huawei_y7_prime-8632.php GSM Arena indicates no band 4 for either 3G or LTE, so your only option for data is to connect to Fizz Ext which, depending on your area, should offer some other frequencies. But you can't use Fizz Ext exclusively so this is a temporary solution and you'll need to get a…

Don't expect to see Fizz in Winnipeg any time soon. I don't believe Videotron has any intention of growing outside of the Quebec / Ottawa area.

I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but I don't think it's possible to have different billing settings for different lines on the same account. If you're wanting your friend to pay for his own service, just open a separate account in his name. Presumably with your address because his is ineligible (I'm just guessing this is…

You should be able to make and receive calls immediately with a new number activation, or at least at the same time as data starts working. Are you sure you have a compatible phone? When using LTE for data Fizz uses different frequencies for voice/sms than it does when you connect only on 3G. You may be missing the…

The Honor 10 doesn't have band 4 in either 3G or LTE, so you'd be stuck on Fizz Ext all the time with that phone. It would be okay temporarily but they'll cancel your account after a few months if you don't get a different phone.
-
You can't take your number to Fizz, but if you want to get Fizz and keep your number you can port it to Fongo for a small fee and have them forward your calls to your new Fizz number. You'll also be able to receive text messages, all for free except the one time porting fee. This is what I did to sign up with Fizz.
-
Can you copy/paste it from another app?
-
What Gyslain said. If your phone is refusing to take your new Fizz Sim then you need to get the unlock code from your old provider.
-
This is not the first time it has happened to someone. You will want to deal with customer service to get your funds back. I had the same thing happen to me at Christmas but they must have been able to fix it for me because it didn't happen again when I was in Niagara falls a week ago. There's clearly a bug of some kind in…

If you add a bit of money to your wallet can you send sms? If so, and you are supposed to have sms included in your plan, then it's clearly a problem on Fizz's end. If not, there's probably an issue with your phone I would think.
-
It doesn't sound like your number port was successful. Did you receive the message saying it was completed? Have you tried popping your old Rogers sim back in to verify your old account was cancelled? I didn't port in a number myself, but I recall other customers reporting seeing a similar lack of options on the website…

What some people have reported previously is that the Videotron APN settings phones often apply automatically work fine for them in Canada but when they went to the USA data didn't work until the proper Fizz APN was set up on their phone.

Could it be a city zoning issue? I'm sure you'd get it resolved if you contact them.
