This is great. But how easy will it be to transfer the eSIM from one phone to another? Will we need to contact fizz to do it? Physical SIMs seem to be easier to move around between phones.

Exactly in this situation at the moment, trying to move my service (using an eSIM) to a new phone.0 -
Thank you, Fizz! It makes managing your data and phone plan even easier.

Who use an esim adapter here?

We just got eSim, works well.
My question is how can I find out the actual eSim number? Just thinking to move to new phone.0 -
Nice. Let us know how the transfer works. Very curious about that.

This is awesome. Thanks!0

I wonder who uses an esim adapter with the Fizz esim?

that's great!

I didn't know eSims were a thing. Does it work well?0

I would personally advise against using an eSim from Fizz at this time. Because there is no easy option yet from Fizz to transfer an eSim profile from one phone to the next. Whereas with a physical SIM card, you can just plug the SIM card from one phone to the next without even having to involve Fizz.
I'm sure Fizz is working on this and will resolve this at some point, but for the time being, you would be better off with a physical SIM card.

I wonder why you would want to do that while Fizz is offering physical SIM cards?
I've been playing around with some of these eSim adapters using eSim profiles other than Fizz. They work more or less, but there are no guarantees. Some even list certain eSim profiles known not to work. Also, they all require a fully-featured (as in not low-cost) Android phone to load and configure eSim profiles, Android phones that feature the full Android APIs, phones with Android Go or other limited Android versions do not work. You also can't rely on the app(s) telling you whether your phone is compatible for setup, I have one (low-cost) Android phone where the apps all say "compatible" and yet it is not (with any of them). Iphones can't be used for setup. However, once an eSim profile is loaded, you can of course use the eSim adapter on any phone with that loaded profile.
If you are willing to experiment, you can try. But then in the case of Fizz, why would you?

Agreed! Stick with a physical SIM for now—eSim transfers aren’t seamless yet, and Fizz is still working on it. A physical SIM makes switching phones much easier. 👍📱

That's great news! eSIM technology makes it so much easier to activate and switch plans without waiting for a physical SIM card. This will be especially useful for people traveling to Canada or new residents setting up their mobile service quickly.0 -
Can somebody tell how can i get this esim in Canada0

Great news Fizz! Thanks
Can we do dual Fizz SIM and eSIM on our phones if dual SIM setup is supported?0 -
Yes you can, however, at the moment the eSIM is limited, for example we cannot transfer the SIM to an eSIM and we cannot transfer the eSIM to a new phone at the moment, you need to replace the eSIM with the physical SIM

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know.

This is seriously so cool. Thak you for the update!0

Looking forward to the possibility of transferring to esim for current users!

I'd like to echo the warning: stick with a physical SIM! I am having a nightmare right now because I didn't realize this when I signed up. Now i have a new phone and Fizz can't do anything. They made me get a physical SIM, but now even their technical team isn't able to transfer my line to that.
At first they kept closing my ticket every time I reopened it with a generic message "here's a link how to do it". I finally escalated in this forum and they created another ticket for me, but my issue is still unresolved. Unfortunately I ported my number to Fizz, so just cancelling and reopening a new line is not possible. I could port out and port back in, but that would offset all my savings so I might as well leave altogether.
So, as much as I love Fizz, if it can't be resolved I may have no choice but to go back to Freedom 😧

Sorry @SophiaBC for your troubles. I wish there was something us users here in the forum could do. @Whizz, isn't there anything you could do to escalate?
Otherwise porting out and back in may be your only option.
BTW, same owner for both Fizz and Freedom. So, if you're really going back to Freedom, you're not really punishing "the man" :)

You can't even transfer the eSIM to a new phone? That's ridiculous! Why is that?
0 -
It seems a question of software if it is done elsewhere...
0 -
That's kinda bad hopefully they will allow it soon.

Well, it's been a week that I haven't been able to use my line. No replies to my tickets, eSIM is still active on my old phone. Obviously Fizz is in over their heads with the new eSIM - it can't even be transferred to a physical SIM obviously. If it isn't sorted out before the next renewal I'll have no choice but to port my number out, because I need to start using my new phone.
Reason I mention this is, once again, Fizz is nice and good, but do NOT sign up with an eSIM at this point!

@Whizz help please ?

Hello SophiaBC ,
Sorry to hear about the issue.
I verified your account and it looks like our team did send you an e-mail regarding the Sim Swap operation as it should work now.
If you didn`t receive it we are sorry , but I do confirm that the e-mail was sent from my colleague`s side.
On another note, please test if you are able to manually change the Sim card from your account in My plans - Manage - Change my Sim card , as shown here : https://fizz.ca/en/faq/how-can-i-change-sim-associated-my-mobile-plan
On the last note, you can`t change it, please reach our customer service for further investigations.
Thank you for your understanding.
Have a good one,

If you don't have a mail of Fizz, check your spam folder…

@Whizz Thanks for following up, but alas… I I just tried and still the same error. Not working I'm afraid… Also the two tickets are still open and the last communication it shows is the 11th of March. Not sure what email you are referring to… the last one I received was back then to "try again". Which I did and reported it not working still.

This is great news about Fizz offering eSIMs now! It's definitely a convenient option for anyone activating a new mobile plan.
For those who might not be familiar, eSIMs offer several advantages over physical SIM cards:
- No need to wait for shipping or visit a store
- Easy to set up immediately after ordering
- More environmentally friendly (no plastic card)
- Helpful for travelers or anyone who needs to switch between carriers
It's also good to hear that existing Fizz customers will soon be able to switch from physical SIMs to eSIMs. This is something many carriers are moving toward, so it's nice to see Fizz keeping up with the technology trends.
For anyone curious about whether their device supports eSIM, you can usually check your phone's specifications online or in the settings menu. Most newer smartphones (particularly iPhones from XS onward and many recent Android phones) support this technology.
Has anyone already tried activating a new plan with the eSIM option? I'd be interested to hear about your experience with the process!
