In my opinion, 4G LTE will be around for a long time, mobile providers will instead add antennas to increase coverage and reduce dead zones

I realy hope they do that I rater have better connection everwhere then 5g!

4G LTE close probably after 2030.

4G has been around for almost 20 years, apparently it was already called 3G+

Do you guys have news regarding Videotron plan about shutting 3G down? I cannot find anything online and I'm not sure how long do I have before I will have to replace my actual phone since it's not certified for VoLTE

About Fizz and her yellow color mobile sister company I don't know but about red color company I seen on their website are planning to retire 3G network on July 31, 2025

Its been a while! Canada is so slow upgrading their mobile infrastructure.

It is very expensive, the territory is vast and there are only 40 million of us.

Yea and they also had to remove huawei 5g equipment I'm sure it didnt helped.

Yeah I read about that. That's why I asked. No certain news from the other carriers it seems… let's see what 2025 will bring to us

That is very good point, it takes time.

Hopefully they will annouce the removal of the 3g ahead of time.

Ya, they should give some time.

Some say by the end of 2025

Yes probably hopefully they will give a date soon.

Hopefully the communication come ahead of time and with some sweet promos on phones, since I will be forced to change my phone because Fizz didn't whitelist it…

I have a Sony Xperia PRO-I (2021) US Variant which is fully compatible with all Fizz bands. I have the VoLTE SIM.
I basically have to switch SIM because this is not a Fizz approved phone? Is this a software or hardware limitation? My device supports VoLTE….

Support LTE yes but not by Fizz. 🫤

I have a Pixel 3. It's VoLTE compatible but not supported by Fizz.
There is no way I'm replacing a perfectly working phone for those reasons. I love Fizz but I'll just have to go to a different Carrier.0 -
