Yeah, hopefully, let’s see…

This is a oligopoly :( The cost of the infrastructure is to high to be a real competition.
This can happen if the company are oblige to open to the MVNO, but check what happen to the internet reseller :(

Promises... always just promises...

20gb for not even 2$ in India!!?? Bonkers
1 -
Still too expensive IMHO

Thanks for the food for thought

Freedom mobile looks promising!

Not sure, but let's see what they have to offer

Looks promising, so far - so good.

got a warning from Whizz team for posting material and pricing from the carrier bought by Quebecor
it goes against community guidelines from posting pricing details and links to a Quebecor subsidiary even though it is a sister company...
🤐
no so more mention here of any other providers including Fizz parent / or sister companies
be aware 😲
1 -
Don't worry, just don't mention the name of another company next time 😉.
1 -
Thanks for the heads up!
🙈🙉🙊

You can probably report them but you cannot advertise another provider on Fizz forum 🤐🙃
0 -
Thanks for letting us know
0 -
Good to know that
0 -
Be careful guys! It's still a Fizz forum...

We have the worst data rates in the continent.
Keep in mind Fizz is the only one with rollover in Canada.

It's so crazy!!

I recommend the Canadaland episode about this! https://www.canadaland.com/podcast/monopoly-4-teleconned/

Great podcast ! learn some insights about the canadian telco history !
so everything boils down to the Fed inaptitude to maintain an healthy competitive market by protecting telco interests, disregarding consumers benefits, allowing concentration over decades..as well as provincial gov. by letting Bell to take over local telcos, crippling competition, shutting down small businesses !
you can also follow openmedia.org : a Canadian non-partisan, non-profit advocacy organization working to encourage open and innovative communication systems within Canada. Its stated mission is "to advance and support a media communications system in Canada that adheres to the principles of access, choice, diversity, innovation and openness."

oooooh thanks for the tip re openmedia!

It's because of the immensity of our country

Check now ! Fizz have a very good plan
0 -
They are finally getting better, considering that everything else is getting more expensive
0 -
What would this application actually be used for??
0 -
What application?
0 -
Youre right! Compare to Europe or Asia, communications in Canada are really expensive1
-
I hope we will get closer and closer to European prices with time...

it's getting better months over months...competition is increasingly catching up with low cost telecom provider such as Fizz.
Fizz cheapest plan starts starts at $19 (no data plan, no voicemail, Quebec-wide, unlimited text & calls)
Fizz just introduced a new plan : $21 (4 Go LTE data plan, no voicemail, Quebec-wide, unlimited text & calls)
-----> it sounds really reasonable and affordable as well for many people... in time of sky high inflation
----> after few months only, you will get free data !
this is probably the cheapest low-cost data plan...a good start before jumping in double digit gigabytes
👍️

Yes, this new deal for the 4 Gb data plan is by far the best deal I've found recently!
0 -
Unfortunately it's already gone... it's $24 now... I honestly removed all GB and texts from my canada-wide plan. It ends up being $17 and I pay with the wallet for sms and I've got 1 GB as upgrades, as well as $1 discount. Final price is $16b before taxes. That's the best I manage to get for my use profile

But in that moment, the cost of mobile plan in Canada is very good! I very appreciate the new price
0 -
They are going in the right direction right now. Let's hope the trend goes on
1 -
Agree with you
0 -
Let's hope they keep going down, especially for plans with lower data amounts which are usually way overpriced
1 -
lower end data/call plan are obviously overpriced. because telcos don't get their $$ from lower tier plan...
0 -
I hope prices will keep going down in the near future
0 -
monopoly in Canada for mobile and internet...
0 -
A Fizz monopoly? As much as I love Fizz, I hope not really... A monopoly is never good for prices... we actually need wild competition 😎

thank you everyone that was really interesting to read

That’s crazy! I wish i could unsee your post 😆

Therefore gouvernement is making it expensive because of expensive licenses
