Please stop throttling my Internet
I've been having Internet issues for MONTHS now but the past several weeks it has gotten worse. My Internet cuts out completely and I have to restart the modem. It slows down to a crawl and I have to restart the modem again.
But on top of this, FIZZ IS THROTTLING MY INTERNET.
This was my Internet speed just a few minutes ago:
And this is after activating my VPN which, for some reason, makes Fizz stop the throttling:
This is not an issue with my equipment but is very deliberate throttling from the part of Fizz.
Please stop. Internet and mobile plans in Canada are already pure hell but getting throttled on top is just disgusting.

Hello @anon71 !
I looked over your plan and then at the modem that you have which showed me that that its performance wasn't up to par with what it was made to do. So in this case it isn't us throttling your internet but your modem struggling to perform due to poor signals from it to our server.
I would recommend for you to contact us via our Live Chat or other platforms available so that we can have something done in regards to this and have your experience back to how it should be.

Your VPN's internet traffic goes through your Fizz connection, so FIzz is not throttling your Internet.
The issue might be somewhere else. This happened once on my Windows laptop and it got resolved by an IT specialist updating some networks settings.

That's not how it works and everyone in the household experiences the same issues so it's not device-related. ISPs are very well able to detect if someone is using Netflix and throttle their speeds, for example.

Which service are you using to test your connection speed?

Hi
Your statement is correct. Does the slow internet speed (throttling) happen at all times or only when a specific service or website is being accessed? Are you streaming IPTV?
If it helps, can you continue using the VPN on an on-going basis?

Hi
Based on the user interface, it looks to be the basic speed test.
You can test your internet download and upload speed:
- Go to Google.com.
- Search for
internet speed test
. - Tap or click Run Speed Test.
Google partners with Measurement Lab (M-Lab) to run this test.

Do some speed tests
- Perform some speed tests using the Fizz Wi-Fi app. This app is available for free on Google Play Store and Apple Store.
- Google Play: Click here
- App Store: Click here
- Do multiple tests with different devices and at multiple locations around your home.
- Compare the results obtained at the downstream (Download) and upstream (Download) speeds of your Fizz Home Internet plan.
- If possible, also a speed test with a device plugged in using a network cable (RJ45) directly into the Wi-Fi modem.
- You can also perform a speed test using any website or app of your choice.
- Make sure you choose a speed test that uses a local server.
- Some sites only offer test servers located overseas. It could skew your results.
Make sure your equipment is capable of reaching the desired speed

"Some sites only offer test servers located overseas. It could skew your results."
Yes, however not to the extent of getting 0.25 MBPS download, except if the test server is like in North Korea...

You are right! It cannot be that!
