2.4GHz wi-fi connection keeps dropping
Has anyone else been having issues with the wi-fi connection on 2.4Ghz? Starting last week, i have had nothing but wi-fi connection drops on my 2.4Ghz wi-fi card. Seems sporadic, and often times, the number of drops can go on for several minutes. If you run a continuous ping count, you'll see a nice solid 2-3ms response, then they'll be the odd 300-500ms response, followed by a coupled of dropped packets, then back to 2-3ms. No issues from a device that uses a 5Ghz connection, only my 2.4Ghz devices.
I'm suspecting the firmware on the modem must have been updated recently, but i can't seem to find any logs on the router that would indicate that. Current firmware running is 7.1.1.2.7b8.
I rebooted the modem, and the device with the 2,4Ghz card, but it hasn't made a difference. Like i said, this started sometime last week. maybe Monday or Tuesday. I use this 2.4Ghz device everyday, for 10-12 hours daily, so i noticed right away when things start to act up.
Anyhow, before i decide to go hardwire, i just wanted to see if anyone else in the community has experienced the same problem.

Hello FCP1893,
I am sorry to hear about this situation.
I just verified the connection and from my side everything is looking ok.
All signals and speeds are within normal values.
As it was recommended changing channels could help n your situation.
You can also try switching bands by disabling the band steering.

Hi
You might be having some interference with the 2.4Ghz signal.
Try using a wifi analyser to find a less congested channel in your area.
You can manually select an optimal wifi channel thru the modem settings.

Hello @FCP1893, I suggest the below:
- unplug the modem, wait several minutes, plug in
- ask if it is happening with all devices connecting on 2.4GHz
- check to see if modem is dusty inside
- reset to factory settings
- contact Fizz via My Settings, Contact Form to open a Support Ticket and this exchange occurs via the email address registered on the account

It may be cause by one of your devices. Pause them all and re-enable 1 at a time until you find when it drops.

PF_Ref_D2U9A, channel change may be a good idea, just really odd it started last week.
Clive, modem was rebooted as i had mentioned in my opening comments. Resetting back to factory seems extreme, considering what 5Ghz devices haven't experienced this problem. Besides, why lose my custom config? Resetting would be a last resort solution.
Archon, it could be one of my devices, although the possibility is rather small. I have observed this tends to dissipate late into the evening. I will give your advice a try!

You'd be better served with an external router. I generally recommend Asus routers, they're robust and feature rich!

It could be that nothing has changed on your side, but a new neighbor moving in next door can make all the difference.
If the same issue is happening with multiple 2.4Ghz devices, I would try a channel change.
