    Hello Jack15,
Your son’s SIM should work in the iPhone XR if the phone is compatible and unlocked. Please try these steps in order, checking for service after each one:
Restart the iPhone XR, then turn airplane mode on for about 10 seconds and off again.
Check the carrier lock. Go to Settings > General > About and scroll down to “Carrier Lock”. If it says “No SIM restrictions”, the phone is unlocked and ready for Fizz. If it says “SIM Locked”, you’ll need to contact the carrier that sold the phone to unlock it.
Update the iPhone to the latest iOS version (Settings > General > Software Update), and accept any carrier settings update that appears.
Reinsert the SIM. Turn the phone off, remove the SIM, make sure it’s clean and sits properly in the tray, then turn the phone on again.
Check cellular settings. In Settings > Cellular, make sure Cellular Data is on and the SIM is selected, then in Network Selection make sure Automatic is on.
Reset network settings: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will erase saved Wi-Fi passwords.
There’s nothing else to do to activate the account on the new phone, since the account is linked to the SIM and not to the phone. If it still doesn’t work after these steps, please contact our support team through live chat at fizz.ca/en/support (green bubble > Chat).
    Have a good day!
