Question - Switching from 200mbps to 400mbps

Hi!

I'm thinking of upgrading my current service.

I've read in the forums that the new routers are in short supply currently, so receiving it may take some time, that much is understandable.

My questions are, is my current router (which was provided by Fizz) capable of making use of the 400mbps connection if I choose to switch right now?

Also, I suppose I'll need to return my current one, is it safe to assume it would be so only once I received the newer model?

Thank you for your time!!

As a workaround to get the new router add a new Internet plan of 400 Mbps and cancel your current plan 😉.

Old router can be returned to the nearest Videotr*n store (instructions will be provided).

    Hello s2bc,
Thank you for describing your question to us.
As Andrei_ref_R7VK1 informed you, if you'd like to receive the newer modem model, you can try the workaround he suggested to obtain it. However, the modem you currently have is fully capable of delivering download speeds of up to 400 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 50 Mbps.
You can see more details about this here: https://fizz.ca/en/wi-fi-technologies.
When you change your Home Internet plan, you don't change the modem; the modem's download and upload speeds are upgraded.
I hope you have a pleasant day!

Hi, if you have the old modem, Fizz won't change it for you because it can even handle gigabits.
The new modem is only for new subscribers who get more than 400 megabits.
