Several providers charge more for 5G plans than for 4G plans. Some also used to offer 3G plans.

So, if you would be specific, my phone is 5G, my network is 5G, and you offer 5G. The last time I managed to find where on the forum it says my connection is 4G?

I'm wondering if Fizz, Freedom and Vidéotron (all share the same owner) use different spectrum frequencies in different parts of Canada, as I can obtain a 5G signal in some cities, but only 4G and 3G in others. Presumably, this means that my phone is not compatible with all the frequencies that Fizz uses.

When Freedom launched in December 2009 as Wind Mobile, and Vidéotron launched its mobile network not long after that, it had a 3G service that used the 1700 MHz frequency. This is still around today, but with plans to phase it out this decade. T-Mobile US also used that frequency at that time, so its unlocked phones generally worked with Fizz and others, but in recent years, T-Mobile discontinued 2G and 3G service. Almost all North American carriers later used 1700 MHz for 4G, and since then, other spectrum frequencies were auctioned and deployed by various operators. I'm having a hard time keeping up!

Which spectrum frequencies do I need to fully enjoy Fizz 4G and 5G service?
