Roaming warning near the US border — should I worry about extra charges?

Hi everyone,

I went to Peace Arch Park this afternoon and received a text from Fizz saying:

“USA (+ US VIRGIN ISLANDS, PUERTO RICO): your phone is roaming.”

I was very careful not to cross the Peace Arch or enter the US side because I knew that could trigger roaming. I stayed on the Canadian side the whole time.

However, after leaving the park, I still received the roaming notification. I’m guessing my phone may have connected to a US network because I was so close to the border.

Should I be worried about any unexpected roaming charges just from connecting to a US network?

Is there a way to check whether I was actually charged for any roaming usage?

Thanks!

If you have no money in your wallet and you don't have a US plan you will not be charged.

    You can ignore the warning.

    Yes,
I'm your account "Manage my plan" > "Wallet" > "Transaction history"

Thank you buddy, when I got the "Wallet" page, I saw a popup window said "This feature is not available in your region. If you’re out of minutes, texts or data in your plan, you can buy an Add-on. For a trip abroad, consider a Travel Add-on." Is this a common tip for everyone?

And, there's no transaction in the wallet because I don't have money in it. Is it possible that the roaming fee will be included in the monthly payment?

Thank you buddy, you saved me.

I don't have a US plan because I don't have any trip plan to the US. And I don't have money in my wallet.

Is it possible that the roaming fee will be included in the monthly payment? Or Fizz will just deduct fees for roaming from the wallet?

    Hello @bupttony ,
I hope you are having a great day.
The roaming notification you received is an automated message that can be triggered when your device detects or briefly connects to a U.S. network near the border.
There's no need to worry. Receiving this notification alone does not generate any charges, and no extra fees will be applied simply because the message was sent. It's a precautionary alert designed to inform customers that their device may be close to a roaming zone.
Also @BeakBird already responded to your question, providing the necessary information.
I wish you a wonderful day!
