Fizz Wi-Fi modem VS my Router URL address
Hello, don't yet have Fizz internet but would like to first please confirm the URLs to access Fizz Wi-Fi modem VS my own router:
Fizz Fizz Wi-Fi modem: 192.168.0.1
My own router (Netgear): 192.168.1.1
Is this correct? So I would have access to 2 routers, but would first disable Bridge mode in Fizz Wi-Fi modem to deactivate Fizz modem WiFi and avoid any conflicts with my own router?
If I use my own router, once I change my Videotron modem to Fizz Wi-Fi modem, would I need to reconfigure all connections and passwords (Example: my wifi cameras, my Firestick, my laptop, etc.), or can I just continue using s normal, as I am just changing the modem? Also, my router is Wifi5 while Fizz would be Wifi6, would there be an issue in me using my own router?

Hello Billy01,
Thank you for your interest in our services,
I will answer your questions one by one.
The Fizz Wi-Fi modem's admin interface is typically accessible at 192.168.0.1.
If your Netgear router is configured on a different subnet, such as 192.168.1.1, you would access it using that address.
If you plan to use your own router, the recommended setup is to enable Bridge Mode on the Fizz modem. This disables the routing and Wi-Fi functions of the Fizz modem and allows your Netgear router to handle your home network. This avoids having two routers managing traffic (double NAT).
Imporntant information, you will not be able to use just your own router. You have to connect it to the modem your receive when you subscribe.
If you want to get the WiFI 6 modem, you need a plan with at least 400mbps when you subscribe.
Regarding your devices (cameras, Fire Stick, laptop, etc.), if you continue using your own router and keep the same Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password, your devices should reconnect normally without requiring any reconfiguration. Since only the modem is being replaced, your router remains responsible for the local network.
As for Wi-Fi 5 versus Wi-Fi 6, there is no issue using your Wi-Fi 5 router with Fizz Internet. However, you won't benefit from the Wi-Fi 6 capabilities offered by the Fizz modem while your own router is managing the wireless network. Your devices will simply connect using the Wi-Fi standards supported by your Netgear router.
If you are satisfied with the performance and coverage of your current router, there is no technical requirement to switch to the Fizz Wi-Fi solution.
One additional important information, is that if you are using your own router for the WiFi network, we will not be able to help you with any issues you could encounter. We will of course be able to verify if the signals are ok, however we will not be able to see any information related to the devices connected on the WiFi network.
If you need help to setup your own router, you can find the steps here:
Open an Internet browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar.
Identify yourself using the following login information:
Username: cusadmin
Password: **enter your Wi-Fi password**
Select Basic
Select Gateway
Disable the option ''Residential Gateway function''
Click Ok
You might need to restart both the Fizz modem and your router after this process.
