Is it normal for my wifi speed to be 350 lower than what I pay for?

I'm paying for the 500 download speed and, on the wifi, I'm barely getting 150. When I'm on my computer, on ethernet cable, it varies between 350 and 500.

    Hello @Devilrem73 ,

I am sorry for the issue encountered.

Verifying your modem in our tools it is online and providing a proper speed.

I kindly invite you to check if the coaxial cable is well connected to the modem, also I invite you to restart the modem and your devices too, disconnect them from the network and reconnect, then proceed with a speed test.

Please test while using an Ethernet cable too.

You can check our FAQ too:https://fizz.ca/en/faq/my-wi-fi-network-not-working-its-slow-or-it-cuts-what-do-i-do

As @Sébastien_C said, on Wifi, the speed can be affected by many artificial causes. If the same issue appears after proceeding with the steps provided, please contact us by chat to assist you further:https://fizz.ca/en/support

    Thank you for your cooperation.

    Have a nice day!

Wifi is possible. For ethernet ask to Fizz to check signal.

Technically, the 500 Mbps you’re paying for is the bandwidth from Fizz to your modem.

The effective download speed to each wifi endpoints can be much lower and is affected by A LOT of environmental variables (distance, obstacles, signal interference, neighbour wifi, microwave oven, wall material and many others).

Even if none of your device ever reaches the full 500 Mbps, multiple devices used simultaneously can still consume all allocated bandwidth.
