1000 international minutes for 2$? Really?

On Sept 10, I received a communication from Fizz saying that it was possible to buy an international monthly plan for 2$ and get 1000 minutes. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work for France : still 8$ for 60 min… I checked some other countries and could not find any country with 1000 min for 2 $. False advertisement?

Hello @Philippe C. 32041,
I have verified the information you have provided us and I can assure you that the email you receive from us is correct.
Now you have the chance to add international calls directly into your plan for 2$ a month.
The price of 8$ for 60 minutes is if you want to have an add-on for calls to France.
If you want to make the change to have the international calls in your plan every month you need to make a plan change by going into My plans>Manage my plan>Change my plan.
Here is an FAQ about it https://fizz.ca/en/faq/how-do-i-change-my-mobile-plan
Keep in mind that any changes you make to your plan will become effective on your next payment cycle.
Add-Ons on the other hand are active immediately. They’re valid until the end of your next payment cycle.
If you want to buy an add-on you need to go into your account under My plans>Manage my plan>Add-ons.
More details can be found in our FAQ https://fizz.ca/en/faq/what-is-an-add-on-and-how-do-i-buy-one
I hope I was able to clarify the situation for you.
Have a wonderful day.

I think you looked in the add-ons section, because I see the same $8 for 60 minutes. You need to actually change your plan and opt into international calling. The price varies by province. I'm in Ontario, and adding the international call option is $5 a month and I would only get 250 mins for France. I believe any changes take effect when your cycle refreshes, so you may not get international calling until your cycle refreshes.

You can add International Calling from your coverage area to one country of choice for $2 extra to all current phone plans. That is, you'd have to switch to a current phone plan and select the International Calling option. The plan will be $2 more expensive than without the option. France gets you 250 minutes, most other countries will give you 1000 minutes for the same price.
