Visual voicemail not working correctly

I am not receiving any visual notification when a voicemail is delivered. I’m using an iPhoneXr with the latest iOS. I’m able to dial into my voicemail box and listen to my messages but I’m not receiving any visual notification that a message is there. I’ve been back and forth with tech support with no resolution. I’ve done resets, sending the text “STATE” to 44744, power cycles etc.. this is an issue and may force me to change providers. Is this happening to anyone else with an iPhone? I know that Android users need to download an app for Visual Voicemail but with the iPhone it’s supposed to be built into the iOS. Any suggestions?

    the visual voicemail for iphone is built into ios and it intercepts the call before it gets to the carrier voicemail. so if you have issues, likely need to contact apple side to figure it out.
