Asking again in case something has changed: transfer number to a new account of a grown up child

This question was asked before in 2023, and the case was closed, but I want to try again, in case something has changed.

I have a Fizz account with two mobile phone plans. My child has been using one of the phone numbers since I signed if for it a long time ago. Now that my child has grown up, I want him to create an account under his name, and transfer the phone number that he was using to his own account with Fizz. Is that possible? The answer given in 2023 was that we would need to create a new account under my child's name with another phone provider, transfer the phone number from Fizz to that new account, and then my child would need to create an account with Fizz under his name, and request to transfer the number from the other provider back to his new Fizz account, and close that other account. That seems rather complicated.

Unfortunately, the method you mentioned even if complicated, is still the only solution to your problem. You can't transfer a number directly from a Fizz account to another. You have to port out and then port back in. As Elena mentioned though, the referral bonus can sweeten the pill a bit

    Hi @Luis S. #3386

Sorry in my previous post I replied in english

Yes, that’s a clever solution, even though it’s a bit complicated. By temporarily transferring the number to another carrier before bringing it back to a new Fizz account, you can bypass Fizz's current limitation on internal number transfers.

Plus, the $35 referral bonus can help offset some of the costs involved in the process. It’s a good option for those who want to keep their number while having an independent account.

Unfortunately nothing has been changed since 2023, despite multiple promises that "they are working on it".

    Hello Luis S. #3386 ,
    Thank you for your question.

As the other users already informed you, for the moment the information you are having regarding the subject is the correct one.

At Fizz, it is not allowed to transfer a plan from one Fizz account to another.
You can try to create instead an end-user for the plan you wish to stop managing and offer him the possibility to take care of it.
The account holder will remain the same however this way, you will be able to offer some permissions for managing the plan.
You can do that by accessing My plans, select the plan you need to give access to, then Manage plan and select " Add an user".
After that, follow the on-screen steps.
Here are more details regarding the subject: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/how-do-i-add-user-to-plan
In case there will be any changes from our side regarding the transfer, rest assured, all the customers will be informed.
You can reach our online customer service agents if you are having any other questions regarding the subject.
For that, simply use this link: https://fizz.ca/en/support
    Thank you for understanding.
    Have a wonderful day.
