One of my all-time favorite bands is Vampire Weekend.
I first discovered them back in 2018 and fell in love with their music since then with their distinctive musical style. The band’s sound is a fusion of indie rock, pop, and world music influences, including elements of baroque pop, Afrobeat, and reggae.
I find their lyrics to be very insightful and I always resonated with the band.
My recommendation for someone who is trying to get into the band are songs like “Oxford Comma” and “A-Punk”.

A couple of local heavy bands.
Voivod. Band from Jonquière. At one time the Metallica bassist left them to join Voivod.
Slaves on Dope. Band from Montreal.

My guess is you’re a musician yourself. Most Voivod fans I know are heavy metal musicians…

Not a musician but worked in the industry for many years.
The most musicians I've seen attend a concert is for Zappa plays Zappa. Frank's son, Dweezil Zappa along with top notch musicians play Frank's music. Each concert is themed around a different album.

It’s true Frank (and Dweezil) Zappa seem to be very popular among musicians, as do the guys who worked with them, like Steve Vai, Terry Bozzio or Guthrie Govan…

In my opinion, Frank Zappa was a virtuoso. Just look at the lyrics of "I'm the Slime" written in 1973 and how it is still very relevant today (just add the Internet).
I remember watching his statement in the US congress in 1985 when they were trying to restrict the 1st amendment right of free speech by censoring musicians. That is worth watching.
In my opinion he is probably the most underrated guitarist. He is right up there with the best and his live improvisation skills were second to none.

He was a virtuoso for sure. And a very bright and wise man. A bit too weird for my tastes (as most virtuoso music is to me), but he was a very interesting character…
1 -
I guess weird is a good description.
But musicians did like him. Not many people know that he recorded 3 albums with Kent Nagano and the London Symphony Orchestra.
But yeah, definitely not for everybody.
1 -
Didn’t know he recorded with Kent Nagano. However, I’m not surprised, considering Nagano is quite the open-minded maestro…

definitely 99,9 BUZZ FM!

If you get a chance, watch Voivod's video of the song Astronomy Domine.
It's a old Pink Floyd song that Voivod performed on their "Nothingface" album.
Most metal fans agree that Voivod's version is better.
Not bad for 4 kids from Jonquière.
