Little to no data load on LTE these days

Hi all,

Am I the only one having trouble with applications not being able to load data for a few days now?

I keep receiving notifications, eventually looks like some app are loading data but painfully, most of them do not. I still have plenty of data available in my bank - so not the root cause.

Thanks!

Thanks for pointing it out 👍.

I stand corrected. 300 Mbps is the maximum real world speed.

This is the search result from the Perplexity AI search engine for the phrase "LTE+ maximum speed":

LTE+ (also known as LTE-Advanced or 4G+) can achieve significantly higher speeds than standard LTE. The maximum theoretical speed of LTE+ is around 1 Gbps (1000 Mbps), though real-world speeds are typically lower.

    Key points about LTE+ speeds:

Theoretical maximum: Up to 1 Gbps download speed.

Typical real-world speeds: Range from 100-300 Mbps, depending on network conditions and infrastructure.

Improvement over standard LTE: LTE+ offers substantially faster speeds compared to regular LTE, which typically maxes out around 100 Mbps.

Variability: Actual speeds can vary widely based on factors like network congestion, signal strength, and proximity to cell towers.

Evolution of technology: LTE-Advanced is an improvement on standard LTE, bridging the gap between 4G and 5G technologies.

It's worth noting that while these speeds are impressive, 5G technology aims to surpass LTE+ capabilities, with theoretical speeds reaching up to 20 Gbps in ideal conditions. However, LTE+ remains a robust and widely available high-speed mobile network technology in many areas.

It depends on the position in Montreal where you are. Sometimes the signal is bad for short periods of time.

To me it seems over wifi, since the wifi is on

No. Definitely turned off Wi-Fi. The little icon you see next to the signal bars says LTE+. It's hard to tell the difference between the icons from a screenshot because they are small.

The speed is awesome. When I first joined I used up 800M of my data doing only 2 Ookla speed tests. The faster the speed the more data transfers during the test.

This is the test on Wi-Fi.

Then you have almost reached the limit of LTE, which, if I remember correctly, is 300 Mbps ( I could be wrong). Out of curiosity, do you remember the upload speed?

Edited: Wikipedia say 1Gbps for LTE Advanced (LTE+)

    You are correct.

    LTE theoretical = 150 Mbps

    LTE+ theoretical = 300 Mbps

I must be in the sweet spot for the Fizz network. I was really surprised by the result.

    Upload speed is around 40.

I live on Montreal’s north shore and it’s true LTE has been sluggish in the past few days. It can happen. The issue usually resolves by itself quite fast.

Another fix could be to put your phone on airplane mode for about 30 seconds and then turning it off, this can often solve the problem.

Another solution for this problem could be to put your phone on air plane mode for around 30 seconds then turn it off, this should fix it by ensuring your phone connects to the nearest cell tower, hope it works for you.
