If it was a corporate phone number then you can have issues with porting it to Fizz:
If your phone number is associated with a landline or VOIP, it cannot be transferred over to Fizz. Same goes for an administrative phone number — for example, a number associated with an organization or public institution. You must choose a new number.

If your number is in subscription area and there is any block on it you should be able to port it.
You can always validate with the support, go in your account → My settings → contact form
You need to buy a SIM, check if you have a store nearby or you can order it will take from couples of days to a week to receive it.
Also remember to use a referral code during the creation of your plan, in order to receive 25$ credit at your second payment, you can pick mine, you can find it in my name after code or pick one from here

I don't see why not. As long as your number is active when you do your port and you can receive MMS.
