Conveniences sometimes come with greater (cyber) risks
So enjoy free wifi (fizz courtesy) outside BUT make sure you DONT perform any risky transactions online where you expose sensitive and confidential data or do financial-based transactions. give you some clues below
✅ read news media, check public websites, listen to webradio, watch YouTube, play free games, use maps, share public data
🚨buy items online on web merchants, do transactions or check your web bank accounts, login to any websites requiring credentials to access sensitive data (banks, insurance, health, education, e-commerce, telecom, hydro, governements ...), send or receive sensitive data
you may do some transactions (excluding anything related to $$ and private data such as your SIN) as long as your phone is up-to-date with a supported android version and you have installed security tools from reliable sources such as an antivirus (recommend Sophos), a paid VPN (recommend ProtonVPN), a privacy and security-focused browser (recommend Brave). don't forget to harden your android by tweaking android os features to limit unlimited access to 3rd party, make sure you have enabled 2 steps verification (2FA) if your apps support it (recommend Authy)
rule of thumbs :
💡anything sensitive , enable your fizz data plan !
💡anything public, wifi is fine (your Fizz Home wifi is better)

I'm surprised this isn't mentioned in the post here, but there's also a promotional offer for five 1Gb bonus data perks associated with the Ilots, if you log in the wifi using the same email as your Fizz account.
