Does the usage have to be from the new device only to be unable to return device?

Hi fellow Fizzers,

I just ordered a new phone from Fizz and I saw that I can return the device in a 15 days window after receiving it unless I use 250mb of data, XX minutes or XX messages from the device in question. I'm wondering if the usage actually has to be from the new device or any phone that I use with the number associated to the new phone will count towards the usage. I'm hoping that if I use the new device on Wi-Fi only for the first 15 days, I could theoretically return it at the end of the return window.

Thank you

    Hi @fizzMaster3000

    It is pretty clear in thier policy:

    https://fizz.ca/en/faq/what-15-day-return-policy-phone-bought-fizz

    To return your phone under the 15-day return policy, your usage of Fizz mobile services **with that phone** must not have exceeded:

    - 250 Mb in mobile data;

    - 50 outgoing text messages;

    - and/or 20 minutes of calls (made and received).

    It's from the new device. There are life counters on the phone and they will just check the counters probably.

    This policy is pretty common amongst carriers (or at least it used to be - haven't checked recently).

    Hi

    You have a valid question. Here in the forum, we are users.

    In the CRTC guide Mobile Service Trial Period, there is no mention regarding Wi-Fi usage.

    To get a definite answer, I suggest to address the question to Fizz customer service.

    to be honest, you dont have to worry too much about how much data or time you have used !

    what really matters for Fizz is returning the phone is good standing, regardless you 've talked over 25 min or went online for 1h

    once upon a time we had Target in Canada 😁 and i returned a phone to the store. the guy didnt dare to check data usage or minutes used.

    guy: did you use the phone, make calls..

    me: no

    guy: ok thx

    that's it 🙂

    he was scrutinizing the phone (ie damage). because they gonna resell it a ''cheaper price'' so phone must look good. next clients wont never know if previous users made 1h calls or went online a day.... condition speaks up not usage...

    so unlikely fizz will go thru the steps and verify between day 1 and day 15 , clients made less than XX min and used less than XX data..process is actually time consuming and low-value from the business perspective ! ..as long as the phone is in very good shape, this is where the business value matter !
