Personally I don't prefer wifi extenders without creating a mesh with the main router.
If you want to go with extenders, I recommend you go with a [router + extenders] all with mesh technology. The extenders and router should be compatible with each other to create the mesh. For sure this is the best.
2nd choice: a strong router that can cover long range and there are really great choices. I can help if you wish.
3rd choice: normal (no mesh) wifi extender - I don't recommend it8 -

I decided to go with powerline adapters and a better router. I plugged the first powerline close to the modem and connected the modem to it through an ethernet cable. The second adapter I plugged in a central area of my house and connected it to a more powerful router. I've used high speed (+1200mbps) powerline adapters and router with capability to manage multiple connections simultaneously without losing performance.7
