Notification for Illigal download ?
I've got a message from Fizz about an Illigal download, it's talking about downloading some movie , but i've never been dowloading any kinda movie on anywebsite , does it mean maybe my wifi is hacked ? and what does thisnotice mean ?

You have been caught downloading a copyright without permission, even if someone has stolen your wifi, for them ,it is you the only responsible .

@ Martin , the problem , ive no one of my familly living with us , only me and my wife , so im worried if my wifi is hacked , and even the support cant do anything about it

Dont worry about it. it is just a warning to scare you but they cannot do anything about it. also it should tell you in the message what was downloaded so you can no what was downloaded.6

Hi, everybody is talking about getting a vpn but as I understand you don’t really need it. I download quite a lot of stuff on the internet and even don’t pay for a vpn. Of course make sure your wifi is secured, but I would not do anything more than that. Just don’t worry about it and continue about your day. Even if you receive 10 letters not any legal action have been taken in Quebec.

The ISP is obligated to send you that notice but it most likely ends there. Perhaps you downloaded a torrent or used an app to stream TV/Movies that uses torrent such as popcorntime. If you are worried, just use a VPN to anonymize your IP.2

Do not worry, nobody here is here to judge about anything. As many have mentioned, these emails have no legal value and any claims to reimburse or face legal proceedings is entirely without legal validity.
The CRTC agreed that Internet Service Providers can share the email address linked to an IP address (your home internet connection) but they cannot prove that YOU actually downloaded it. They can see that someone from your IP address connected to a public torrent network for a given file, but that's it. And nothing to accuse you (copyright infringement, etc.)
What can you do next?
If you did have a torrent download or seed: Ignore the email. You could in the future use a VPN service to hide your IP, or use Private Seeds.
If you did not have a torrent download/seed: maybe a neighbour is using your home Wifi network.
Step 1: Don't panic
Step 2: Re-read step 1
Step 3: Logon to your wifi router and see what devices are connected to your network. If you're not familiar with this, then skip to Step 4. This was meant to see if there where connected devices that you did not recognize
Step 4: Logon to your wifi router and change the Wifi password. Make it long and include upper/lower cases, numbers. The more difficult to make sense of the password, the more difficult it will be to hack. FORGET using your cats name, or your street name...
Step 5: Reboot Wifi router
Step 6: Go to each wifi device (phones, laptops, etc.) and re-connect to your wifi network using your new password.
If anyone was connecting to your wifi network, they will no longer have access.
