What to do while short code SMS messages aren't working?

Since Short Code SMS messages is not working and is already a known issue acknowledged by Fizz, what are other users using as a replacement and when will Fizz fix this issue?
Yesterday I tried logging into my paypal account, and it wouldn't let me login without sending a security code to my phone which I never received. I tried the phone call method but that didn't work either. The call would ring once then go to VM.

after it tries to send the sms code, there's a button under the input field that says "having trouble logging in?" and then gives me the choice to login with security questions. I was able to get in.
for twitter, the mobile app which I was already logged in, has a built-in code generator that also worked for me.15 -
Actually it only gave me two options, sms or calling, both of which didn't work. I couldn't receive any SMS and when they would call me, it failed after the first ring, and went to VM.14

you can use another free phone service provider like FOngo and receive SMS there unti this is fixed.13

Actually paypal support is very helpful, you can call them 1 877 569-1116, for service in french 1 855 477-1170, they are open from 9am 5:30pm13

Well I guess I will remember that for the next time, but what about other companies that use two factor? I am just saying I don't want to be in that predicament again. I will try Sebastian P's suggestion. Would textplus work, has anyone tried them?13

I completely agree, it's a big issue that needs to be solved, but I don't expect it to be soon since they extended their beta period. the only alternative right now is either to port out your number, or contact support of the companies that are using your cell for 2FA. once your in your account, if it's an option I would opt for Google Authenticator, as it's a safer than sms 2FA. just google "sms 2fa unsafe"14

SMS out to short code doesn't work neither. It's a problem Fizz need fix asap.10

I haven't had a problem with the phone call method for Microsoft, Amazon and Google. Haven't needed 2FA from anyone else yet. Fongo doesn't work either in my experience. But if you really want 2FA to work by text message you can get a number with voip.ms. I have been able to get several 2FA texts on my number through them.6

You'll have to use phone call options for now if that's possible. It worked with Google. Consider messaging Fizz on the chat bubble or via FB messenger. Also consider calling PayPal to see if they can help.3

Enter password
On next screen I click on "Having trouble logging in?"

It seems that this problem still has not been fixed. I am unable to receive 2FA from Paypal and this is very annoying. Is there any update on this issue? Is anyone able to use 2FA for Paypal?0

It worked good for me in the last months, I receive almost instantly the text messages with the security code from PayPal. It also worked with other 2FA by SMS I used occasionally.0

You should check with companies making use of them to see if there is a plan B until the problem is fixed.0
