(Thank you) Are you travelling? We need your help
Update: Thank you for your comments, much appreciated
Hey Community,
As you know we're currently in Beta, and were looking for your feedback so that we can improve our services. For those of you who are travelling and have decide to take your Fizz service with you, we need your help in letting us know which roaming partner you were able to use with Fizz.
In order to help us, you'll need the following:
1-You need an active Fizz account
2-You need a travel add-on or money in your wallet to make sure you can use your Fizz services
3-You need to make sure you have roaming enabled on your device once you've arrived at your destination - and have the above settings configured, once completed, you will see the network operator your device is connected to.
Reply to this post with the destination and the travel partner you were able to use with your Fizz services.
Thanks!

I'll be traveling to Europe at the end of Oct. (woot! woot!)
I'll give you an update then...24 -
I've already gone to the US and had perfect coverage with AT&T in NY state. I'll be heading to Ireland and the UK quite soon and will report back.23
-
I went to USA two weeks ago but it didn't work with my wallet. It seems that the bug has been resolved now?23
-
Hey,
I was in the USA, Vermont, it was on the AT&T network.
Hope this helps.24 -
Hey Alex,
It does - thank you:)23 -
Having issues with US roaming.
Phone defaults to AT&T, outgoing calls and data is working. Incoming calls not working, callers get a automated message that says communication cannot be established (La communication n'a pu être établie).
If I manually select T-Mobile network (as suggested by the chat agent), phone can't get a connection. After a few minutes it will revert back to AT&T.23 -
I'm in the US now (N.Y.)and I got service from T moboil and it got disconnected after a minute or so then I got AT&T and the same thing happened24

A bit late, but I drove down to the GTA last weekend along the 401, and other than a small delay in switching networks when I left the province, everything worked perfectly.23

Tested the Fizz EXT network in the GTA area, calls to local numbers are intermittent, disconnected every 2 minutes. Some areas do not support the LTE network and only 3G signals are found. Try to make calls via WhatsApp using my data package, calls disconnected every 1-2 minutes and the connections are not stable either.
Please forward these issues to the tech team and I hope improvements will be done to improve the users' experience from the out-of-subscription areas.23 -
Here is my feedback:
Fizz EXT in Toronto: Reception is generally high. Data is a bit slow for LTE (when compared to a local Fido LTE). Calls drop out at 2 minutes 53 seconds.
Fizz voice & data Roaming in L.A.: Reception was all over the place. Reception would be lost every 5-10 minutes if network selected automatically. Had to manually select AT&T to maintain constant connection. As a result, there were many times when I had dead reception. Calling was good when there was reception, but did not call for more than 2 minutes so not sure. Data was okay at best. I would have hoped a bit faster speed. But at the end of the day, biggest complaint was the stability. It should not move around roaming carriers so often.20 -
Starting next week:
- Ireland
- UK
- Netherlands
I'll report back20 -
Traveled to Mexico early December. Purchased 1GB / $5 data package for Latin America. Out of 3 local operators, I could only get data working on AT&T Mexico in 3G. I had to select operator manually on my phone to connect to AT&T. In auto mode phone would connect to Movistar, I'd see H+ data connection, but I was not able to access internet. Connecting to Telcel would not show any data at all. Could not send text, but receiving text was OK. Could not make any phone calls. When someone called my number in Canada they would get message " invalid subscriber" or something in this line...15

Jamaica I had no issues roaming on LIME (cable and wireless co) for data.
Used 5$ (Zone Latin America) add on and reception was good on the north coast.
Did not end up using any voice or SMS services was only there a few days.
Update - MEXICO. Was in Cancun within coverage for multiple Mexican carriers and could not get Fizz to work at all, despite settings changes recommended by Movistar, Telcel or ATT when roaming. An inconvenience but Koodo /Telus set me up day one online without issues. Recommend only travelling as I do with dual SIM phone and tablet.11 -
I’m currently traveling in France. Fizz roaming works perfectly using Orange network with LTE.
At the end of my trip, I will do some Speedtest.11 -
I am currently in Florida (Orlando Area), while I have 4 bars of LTE signal my speeds are extremely slow (ping 962ms, download 0.15mbps and upload of 0.04mbps) on the AT&T network and my connection seems to be throttled. It is so slow I am unable to FaceTime or watch YouTube. I have already tried updating my network settings, restarting the phone and yes I do have roaming turned on.
I should also mention that I am on a Canada + USA plan11 -
Quote - Whizz: Hey @Emre, I'm sure many things will get resolved by then and then some;) (1 month ago). End quote... and @Whizz, you’re is the contraction of "you are" and is often followed by the present participle. Ie: If *you're* the queen, where's the king? Your is the second person possessive adjective, used to describe something as belonging to you. Your is always followed by a noun or gerund. Ie: Your service has many things to resolve, and then some.9

FWIW, we drove from Ottawa to Orlando on Dec 20th where we stayed until Dec 30th. As far as I can tell, I had coverage the whole way down (I81 to I95 to I4). Reception was not great in the campground we stayed at near Orlando (Thousand Trails Orlando) but talking to other guests, it appears that I was no worse than those with US providers and the campground (which is kind of isolated) didn't get very good cell reception. My wife is with Rogers and had similar poor reception.9

I will be in Guatemala next week and would love to help answer your question.
Will my fizz account work there on its own or do I have to buy an add on before?8 -
@Malcolm D yes you will need to purchase a travel addon prior to your departure here: https://zone.fizz.ca/dce/customer-ui-prod/#/account/travel?productId=161862&step=options8

Just got back from 5 days in the Dominican Republic. Before the trip I bought the 1G travel add-on for Latin America Zone and also put $5 in my wallet to cover texts. Network was Altice. Both data and texting worked great. Didn't run a specific speed test but felt as fast as being on the home Fizz network.
The only issue I had was when I got back to Canada and wanted to check how much data I used and the balance in my wallet. The data used was lower then I expected, but the wifi coverage in the resort was very good so that might explain that. My wallet balance was $0 which was surprising after only send a few texts while away. I see in the forum that this seems to be an issue seen while roaming outside of the Fizz home network. You get billed for data even though the data is part of your coverage area of your plan or part of a travel add-on. I will get in touch with support about getting the balance back.9 -
Same issue here. Was in Mexico early December. Purchased 1Gb Latin America plan, put $5 in the wallet for incidentals, which disappeared the same day I landed in Mexico and started using data. Opened ticket with Fizz when got back home, still waiting to be resolved. It has been over a month now, just ridiculous. This billing cycle they put roaming charge in my account for data use in Mexico, which explains why this $5 got to $0. Basically, their roaming billing is broken.6
-
Just following up that customer support was able to fix the $5 wallet issue I had while roaming. Hopefully, that bug is now a thing of the past.6
-
James, what did you do? My case is still unresolved. It has been almost 2 months.6
-
Jacob, I sent a request in via their Facebook page just explaining what happened. It took two weeks for them to resolve it.6
-
I did the same few times, plus submitted claim form and spoke via chat few times. Nothing moved. I guess you got lucky.6
