Brandon MB area expansions?

Hi,
I apologize if this has already been answered as I couldn't find anything on the forums or the faq.
I can across Fizz a few years ago and been eagerly waiting for service to come in our area(just north of Brandon). I saw that the network expanded a few more miles west of Portage la Prarie. Seems like everyone I've talked to about Fizz is also excited.
Is there a road map on when we can look forward to the subscription area expanding?

    Hello @kbouchard ,
Thank you for your interest in our services.
Regarding your question about service expansion in the Brandon, Manitoba area, I would like to inform you that this area is currently covered by partner networks, as @bjlockie correctly mentioned. In addition, these partner networks are part of the extended coverage area, allowing you to use your services even when you are outside the Fizz network's coverage range.
The downside of this coverage arrangement is that Fizz may partially suspend access to partner networks if more than 50% of your usage occurs on them for three consecutive months. I am including here a complete resource with more information about subscription areas, coverage areas, and partner networks: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/subscription-area-and-coverage-area
Once Fizz expands its network coverage beyond the current area, we will make an announcement.
I wish you a great day!

Unfortunately I don't think Fizz has shared any precise expansion plans.

No one knows, Fizz will let us know when it becomes available.

Manitoba is special when it comes to subscriptions to Fizz (and Freedom) in that Vidéotron does not yet operate its own network in the province. The existing subscription area in Manitoba is based on the following CRTC policy:
    https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/crtc-mvno-rules-1.6622906

Essentially, this means that Vidéotron plans on building their own network in the parts of Manitoba currently designated as the Fizz subscription area within seven years from starting to sell subscriptions to this area. Expanding the subscription area to Brandon would mean that they'd have to expand their plans on where to build network infrastructure in the next seven years.

Assuming that they have chosen their current subscription area in Manitoba based on where it makes sense to build their own network infrastructure, I wouldn't expect this to change any time soon, at least not until you actually see cell towers going up in what currently is designated as the subscription area in Manitoba today.

Then again, as previous members have posted, nobody really knows what is going to happen until it does...

Subscription areas seem to correspond to areas that have Fizz or Fizz-Ext network service.
I am wrong about that, Manitoba has a lot of coverage but a small subscription area.
I have no idea, maybe it is the type of Fizz-Ext coverage in the area (Rogers or Bell or whatever Manitoba has, Telus?).

With Fizz's growing subscriber numbers, they're slowly expanding their subscription areas to more and more places across Canada. While they don't have any major plans to expand that across Manitoba at this time, if they can reach new agreements with national roaming partners, they may expand to other provinces that they don't serve at this time. But, it will take time before that happens.
