Hi, im looking at maybe upgrading to 5G but I wonder if there is a real difference of speed or not, never had the change to test it, so im curious to hear people that made the switch and if you notice a difference!

Thank you!

    Hello @ErLamb ,

    Thank you for your message.

5G is the newest generation of wireless technology. It can transfer data up to four times faster than 4G LTE. It also allows up to one million devices in one square kilometre to connect and work together at the same time. The delay in sending and receiving data is much lower, making internet services faster and more responsive.

To use 5G you will need a compatible phone, a plan that includes 5G and to be in a covereg 5G area. Here you can find the map:https://fizz.ca/en/coverage

    Hi,
Be sure to verify your device supports 5G if you choose to upgrade, you'd also need a capable SIM card with the lightning icon on it.

How noticeable 5G improvement depends on your usage and service area.

5G is basically good for two things at this point:

    • Extra capacity. So, if you often go to places with lots of people, sport events, concerts, etc. you may benefit from that.
    • Packet latencies are better. So, if you are an online gamer always looking for the fastest ping, you may get some advantage.

Aside from that, I wouldn't bother at this point. Nice to have for sure, if you can get it at no extra $$$, but not really worth to pay extra money for.
