I'm going to china for a month. If I get the travel add on for china, would I be able to use youtube and instagram? or will it be blocked by the firewall.

    Hello Aphondex,

If you plan to use your services while in China, you'll need to purchase a Travel Add-On for data, calls, or text messages, depending on the services you require.

You can purchase a Travel Add-On by going to My Plans > Manage > Travel Add-Ons in your account.

Fizz does not restrict your mobile data access while you're traveling in China. However, we cannot guarantee access to specific websites or applications that may be blocked by China's internet regulations and firewall.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Have a great day!

This question can probably only be answered by someone who has recently tried it.
There is a good chance that this may work, Fizz Internet access, even when roaming, typically is still first routed through Montréal, QC. For example, I was able to watch Crave through it while I was in The Netherlands.
Whether this fully holds up in China, I wouldn't know.

    Good morning @Aphondex
I have been to a couple of cities in China, though not for years.
The “Great Firewall of China” is quite effective. As an aside, VPNs are not a reliable solution there.
A quick internet search suggest that YouTube and Instagram may work, depending on the circumstances.
    Cheers,
    Brad

Google services aren't available in China, so YouTube definitely won't work, I'm not sure about Instagram.

Not necessarily. It depends on whether roaming in China uses the same tunnel back to Montréal than roaming in Europe does and how effectively that bypasses the great beautiful firewall.

You would necessarily use roaming via a Chinese operator when in China, even if you were then routed to Quebec, that's not the same as using VPN.
If you did use a VPN, you'd be able to connect but find some google services do not work well, such as maps.
