My Wifi is getting slower and slower

Hi Fizz Team,

According to my internet plan, my download speed should be 30 Mbps. However, my speed has recently been dropping down to around 15 Mbps on the Google Speed Test.

I have isolated the issue with the following steps:

Wired Test: When plugging a computer directly into the back of the Fizz modem using an Ethernet cable, I get the exact same slow result (15 Mbps).

Rebooting: Immediately after rebooting the modem, the speed returns to a normal 29 Mbps on both Wi-Fi and Ethernet. However, a couple of minutes later, it drops right back down to 15 Mbps and stays there.

Since this happens on a direct wired connection shortly after a restart, it seems like a modem provisioning or hardware issue.

Do you know how to fix this?

Thanks,

    Hello Lei,
Thank you for describing your situation to us.

Since this is a technical issue, you will need to contact us on chat for real-time support, please use this link: https://fizz.ca/en/support.

I have verified your modem and its signals are fine. Please try a factory reset by holding the reset button pressed for 20 seconds? The button is located on the back of the modem above the ethernet sockets.
Once you proceed, the network name will become visible on your device, indicated by the label found on the back of the modem, accompanied by "Easy Connect".
To connect, simply click on the network name and enter the default password located on the back of the modem.
When you have successfully set up the modem, you will need to reconnect your devices using the updated network name and password.
You can see more details regarding this here: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/how-install-my-wi-fi-modem (#5).

If this does not help, you'll need to make a network scan. Download the Fizz Wi-Fi application (you have to follow this link: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/what-are-fizz-apps) and make a Wi-Fi scan with your phone.
To start troubleshooting follow these instructions:
    ►Stand next to your Modem
►Open the Fizz Wi-Fi application and tap the 3 dots in the top right to open the application menu
    ►Tap “Fizz support”
    ►Tap “Tools and support”
Follow the prompts and accept all permissions until you reach the feature screen then click on Network Scan. Allow the 2-minute Scan to complete (do NOT minimize the application and don't try to see messages/notifications). Once the scan is complete, please contact us on chat.
We will then be able to review the scan details, pinpoint exactly what is causing your Wi-Fi speed issue, and resolve it as soon as possible.

I hope you have a pleasant day!
