Feed keeps interrupting
Trying to watch the hockey game today was an incredibly frustrating experience. Feed keeps dropping and when it was on, super choppy. Had this been a client demo of the platform, I would never have given it a GO. Quality was far below acceptable for ~3 hours
I’ve seen better from friends who pickup free online streams.
Tried multiple channels, pausing, resetting the app, on two different chromecast/ Google tv.
Did multiple internet connection tests during that period all all of them were top notch.
We switched internet to fizz and got a tv subscription to watch live events, but time around my partner asked me what the hell I was thinking dropping our previous provider for this.
Something particular going on today that will be corrected or should we start
shopping again?
Thanks

Hello Nicholas L. #16428,
First, I want to sincerely apologize for the experience you had while trying to watch the game. We completely understand how frustrating it is when live sports are choppy or constantly dropping — especially after switching providers specifically to enjoy live events. That’s definitely not the experience we want for you.
There was no widespread outage reported, but live event congestion or device/network configuration issues can sometimes cause buffering or instability even when speed tests look excellent. Since you mentioned the issue happened across multiple channels and two Chromecast/Google TV devices, let’s go through some targeted troubleshooting steps:
1. Restart your network completely
Unplug your modem for 10 seconds.
Plug the modem back in first and wait until fully online
Restart your Chromecast / Google TV devices afterward
2. Check Wi-Fi band
If possible, connect your Chromecast to the 5 GHz Wi-Fi network instead of 2.4 GHz (better for streaming stability).
3. Test with wired connection (if available)
Temporarily connect one device via Ethernet to rule out Wi-Fi interference.
4. Reinstall the Fizz TV app
Uninstall the app
Restart the device
Reinstall and log back in
5. Reduce simultaneous usage
Even with strong speed tests, multiple high-bandwidth activities (cloud backups, downloads, gaming updates) can impact live TV performance.
6. Check resolution settings
On Google TV, ensure display output is set properly (e.g., Auto or 1080p/4K depending on your TV). Occasionally forcing a specific resolution can cause instability.
You can check this FAQ for more details: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/troubleshooting-im-having-issues-my-fizz-tv-channels-what-do-i-do
If the issue happens again, please note the exact channel, approximate time, whether it affects all channels or just live sports and whether on-demand content works normally.
This helps us determine whether it’s a stream source issue or a local connectivity problem.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, please come back to us. We’ll escalate this to our technical team for deeper diagnostics on your line and TV service.
We truly appreciate you giving us the opportunity to make this right. Let’s work together to get your setup performing the way it should.
Thank you and have a good day!
