Travel to Portugal
Hi,
In about 3 weeks I will be travelling to Portugal for about a month. How does travel data work exactly? Does it just work as soon as I land? What about calls/texts? I have an older phone (S20 FE) that does not work with eSIM, so I am stuck with either purchasing a SIM card in advance on Amazon or purchasing travel data and calls/texts. I can see that data for Portugal is $20/5GB, and I'll need roughly 20GB to be safe, so $80, but what about calls and texts? How does that work exactly?
Thanks!

Incoming texts are always free.
Roaming should also work immediately after you land and register on new network, provided roaming and sim are enabled in your phone.Note that data add-ons differ from calls add-ons and purchasing only data won't enable you to make calls.

The details are available from the Fizz website where you already found the data travel-on. If you are in ON or QC, you can also use pay-as-you-go from the Fizz wallet. Outgoing texts most likely 3c per text. Incoming free.

Hi
Here is the official Fizz FAQ on the topic.
Kindly note that Portugal is not on the list of countries for which Voice Addons are available.https://fizz.ca/en/faq/im-travelling-outside-my-coverage-area-what-are-my-options

The data fees are rather expensive and if I was buying a lot of data I'd probably go with 3rd party esim as opposed to buying directly from Fizz

Use voip number to call will be much cheaper.

I wish, Fizz @Whizz would make a statement as to whether this is a bug or intentional and what information to trust...
