Signed up with $40 referral bonus, got data and a home wifi offer instead?

Hey everyone. I signed up for Fizz in November for the first time, bought a phone through them and used a referral code that claimed I would get a $40 bonus after my second billing cycle. I got an email shortly after signing up that confirmed the same thing.

I just paid my second bill this week, and I got an email saying my referral bonus is ready to claim...except it's not a $40 bonus. It's 10GB of data and an offer to get 1 month free of home wifi (which I don't have)?? I assumed a $40 bonus would consist of credits I could use towards my bill or something, maybe that was dumb of me, but the offer was definitely worded to sound like that.

Did anyone else have this problem? It feels like false advertising if I was promised a $40 bonus and got random perks I didn't ask for instead. My plan is a low-data plan in the first place since I work from home and rarely leave the house, so this perk is kind of useless to me.

    Hello Gooseanon,

I have verified the account and you did indeed use a referral code when you activated the sim and plan with us, however, the referral bonus will be unlocked and appear as balance after the second payment is made. Your current cycle will end today; after January 12th, the bonus will appear in your account and starting with the next cycle, the bonus will go towards your monthly payment, as detailed and explained here: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/what-kind-of-rewards-do-i-earn-for-inviting-friends

Rest assured, the referral will be granted, the perks that you received were offered as reward for your activity in the My Rewards program that you can  read more about here: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/what-do-i-receive-my-rewards-program

If you have additional questions, you can get in contact with our agents by clicking on this link : https://fizz.ca/en/support

    Thank you for understanding !
    Have a good day!
