Love Fizz, But Need More Flexibility for Long-Time Plans

I recently found out that Fizz now offers 5G, which is great to see. However, it looks like 5G is currently only available on plans that cost about $35 more.

I’ve been with Fizz for over 6 years and still have a plan that’s affordable and perfectly fits my needs. The issue is that I can’t make any small adjustments to my plan without being forced to switch to an entirely new one.

Ideally, I’d love to be able to change my existing plan without touching the base of the plan. Examples:

  • Add 5G to my existing plan for a $1 charge
  • Upgrade to Canada + US coverage from Canada Only for a $1 charge

Right now, neither option is possible unless I give up my current plan.

My recommendation is to allow long-time customers to make small, flexible upgrades without losing the plans that originally made them choose and stay with Fizz. It would go a long way toward rewarding loyalty while still offering newer features.

    Hello @Kai_7BQUE ,

    Thank you for your collaboration.
I kindly inform you that the 5G technology is available for mobile plans that has 35 Gb included or more.
In order to be able to benefit of it, you need to change your plan to include minimum 35 Gb and 5G and pay the actual prices for your plan.
We are sorry for the inconvenience and we appreciate your suggestions.
    Please consult our FAQ to:https://fizz.ca/en/faq/what-5g-mobile-network
    Have a wonderful day.

    Good morning @Kai C. #4256
I like the idea about being able to add something like coverage without changing the plan entirely.

As for 5G, and you may already know this, but changing to 5G does not necessarily mean your download speed will be any faster, or your experience any better than with 4G. There is so much that depends on network management and the environment (walls, underground, distance from the tower, being in a place that suddenly has a lot of users, etc) that affects speed. Don’t make a switch solely on the thinking that 5G will automatically be better.

A lot of it is a marketing ploy. If you are getting 20-50 Mbps on 4G you may not even notice the faster 5G speeds, depending of course on what you are using your mobile for. And switching to 5G does not guarantee you will get a faster speed in a location where your 4G was poor.

    Cheers, Brad

Good suggestion, but they will not take this in consideration: too much work.

Forcing people onto current price plans levels when they need to change anything on their plan is probably part of the business model. So, I doubt, they're gonna change that. In fact, show me any other carrier where you get 5G access in under $30 price plans.

I agree that could be great for long time users.

That's the pain that you can't get low price and new feature at the same time.

Agreed they should offer something like this to retain long term customers while raising their profits, win win.

:) You got a very good plan and you can not add things on it because now the same plan is much more expensive.
