Call forwarding question

Hello,

I'm traveling to Europe soon and plan to forward my Fizz mobile number to a Canadian VoIP number, which I will have access to in Europe via a VoIP app on my phone. However, Fizz's call forwarding instructions state the following:

Please note: it is impossible to forward a call when you are roaming outside Canada or the United States

I don't understand this. If I activate the forwarding before I leave the Fizz coverage area, and the forwarding target number is a Canadian number, why does it matter if I'll be roaming outside Canada or U.S.? This should be irrelevant and defeats the whole purpose of forwarding. Or am I hopefully misunderstanding this statement?

Thanks!

    Hi @cinergi
I don't agree with what is written on the FAQ. The call forward should wrong. But you need to activate from Canada before leaving, since it cannot be modified when you are there.
For example, it will work the call forward to a voicemail

For sure if you contact the support they will read the FAQ to you

It depends on the kind of call forward. There are conditional or unconditional forwards. Conditional forwards won't work because you have no service for calls outside of CAN & US. Unconditional forwards should work though as no attempt to contact your phone on incoming calls is even made when you have an unconditional forward set.
**21*+1xxxxxxxxxx*11# should do the trick. With all the x being your 10-digit Canadian destination number.

Thank you both. I intend to set up unconditional call forwarding via **21*.
