RCS on Android - Supported or not?

I switched over to Fizz yesterday and have been unable to get RCS to work.
I've got an Android Pixel 8a, and both the phone and the Google Messages app are up to date. Also all my APN settings are in correctly. Everything works, except RCS messaging.

Online, I've read a ton of posts about resetting the Messages and Carrier services app, restarting the phone etc... Tried all that.

Then I found this post from June 28: https://forum.fizz.ca/en/discussion/comment/7039848#Comment_7039848
"RCS chat stopped working for both my wife and I after 25-jun-2025."
..."I reported the problem to fizz via chat and asked to escalate. They said they would look into it but I've not heard back yet and the feature is still not working."

So it was clearly supported and working and now for the last month hasn't been?

I tried the chat and the support person linked me to the Fizz page about RCS:
https://fizz.ca/en/faq/whats-rcs-messaging-android-phones
.. then bizzarly after 10 mins of chat, told me Fizz doesn't support RCS, which they clearly do!

Fizz is owned by Videotron and they have RCS support listed on their support page:
https://www.videotron.com/en/support/mobile/calls-and-voicemail/rcs-messaging

Does anyone know what's going on with RCS?

Looks like Fizz' RCS integration is malfunctioning at the moment. There are number of ongoing threads at the moment where people are reporting the same thing. Including people who had it working before. Hopefully, it is temporary. So, give it a few days, then try again.

    Hello swatt_code_K2HJV,

To be able to use RCS message with Fizz on Android, make sure that you have:
-A mobile plan including text messaging and access to mobile data or Wi-Fi
-A compatible phone on Android version 5.0 or higher
    -An updated Google Messages application

Please consult our FAQ for more details:https://fizz.ca/en/faq/whats-rcs-messaging-android-phones

If you encounter any issues, I recommend you to restart your phone, update the network settings also test the SIM card in another device that is compatible.
The RCS service is offered by Google. To report a problem or comment on the service, you must therefore use the corresponding form in the Google Messages app.

Thank you for your kind understanding.
    Have a nice day!
