Error - RCS not supported by carrier
I switched to Fizz from Fido yesterday and since then, RCS messaging on my Pixel 7 has been disabled. The messages app states that "RCS not supported by carrier".
I have tried clearing cache and memory, deleting and reinstalling the app, and even readding the APN manually.
I was wondering if someone else has faced similar issues and may know a fix for how I can get RCS services running again on my phone.
Thank you!

I also can't enable RCS Messages. I am getting a "not supported in your region" error though.

If RCS chat is not available on your Pixel 7, there could be several reasons. It is important to Check your internet connection, Google Messages and Google Play Services versions, and RCS settings in the app.
Here are some steps to follow to resolve the problem:
Check your internet connection: Make sure your Pixel 7 is connected to a stable Wi-Fi or mobile network.
Open the Messages app: Check if RCS chats are enabled and what their status is (connected, setting up, or disconnected).
If RCS chats are being set up, try again: If setup takes more than a few minutes, tap "Try Again".
Check your Google Messages version: Make sure you and your recipient are using the latest version of the app.
Check Google Play Services version: Make sure you have installed the latest version of Google Play Services.
Check your default messaging app: Google Messages should be set as your default messaging app.
Restart your phone: A simple restart can sometimes resolve temporary issues.
Check your carrier settings: Make sure your carrier supports RCS chats.
If the problem persists, try clearing the Google Messages cache: This can sometimes resolve issues related to corrupted data.
If you recently changed phones, turn off iMessage if you were using an iPhone: Make sure iMessage is turned off for your phone number.
By following these steps, you should be able to identify and fix the RCS chat not available issue on your Pixel 7.1 -
Appreciate all the suggestions. Unfortunately, none of them has worked.
If a @Whizz gets involved, please help the OP, I don't really need it, I was just trying to see if I can get it to work to help out.1 -
RCS chat stopped working for both my wife and I after 25-jun-2025. We both have Android phones (I'm on v12,she is on v14). There is clearly a problem with Fizz if both stopped working at the same time. We are both getting the error that RCS is not available in our region. She tried to reinstall the google messages app and now when going into the group chat she gets an error to insert a SIM. I reported the problem to fizz via chat and asked to escalate. They said they would look into it but I've not heard back yet and the feature is still not working. Hopefully a moderator sees this and can verify that there are some new problems with Fizz and RCS. Thank you
