Hi everyone,

I activated the Fizz SIM card yesterday. My coverage is in Ontario and my plan is data ONLY.

Followed below Steps from Fizz to setup APN manually:
Name: Fizz
APN: mobile.bm
MMSC: http://mms.mobile.bm
MMS proxy: mmsproxy.mobile.bm
MMS port: 80
APN type: default,mms,supl

However still have no mobile internet.

I wonder if anyone has the same issue. Any advice is so much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Make sure to enable APN in the previous menu after saving it. It should show a marker when it's enables.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12S is available in North America, but it is not a model specifically designed for this market. This means it can be used in North America, but it may not be optimized for North American networks.

In general, Xiaomi phones are more designed for Asian and European markets.

    This phone has the bands:
    2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
    3G HSDPA 850 / 900 / 2100
    4G bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28, 38, 40, 41

For work correctly with all band, only USA and Canadian models work:

    Fizz use:
B4 (1700/2100 MHz AWS 1) – An essential band for LTE services and 3G Call and DATA.
B7 (2600 MHz) – Used for fast LTE connections.
B12 (700 MHz ac) – Deployed in some areas for better coverage.
B17 (700 MHz bc) – Another LTE band used by Fizz.

As can be seen, some LTE bands used by Fizz are not supported by the Redmi Note 12S, which may lead to connectivity issues or limited coverage.

The bands are not supported for xiaomi phones. I have one as well, you have to select Fizz ext network manually to use data. But you can use occasionally.

And in Ontario Fizz uses band 66 for LTE

Cancel before the 15th day of your activation date so you won't be charged.

@Jojobest You don't need to cancel your Fizz plan right away, we can also try to troubleshoot the issue if you like. But it would require some additional information.

First of all, like previous forum members have said, your phone is not a good match for the Canadian cellular market. You will neither get full country-wide coverage nor the strongest signal with this phone. I highly recommend to switch to a phone designed for the Canadian market.

That being said, it doesn't mean that your phone will not work anywhere in Canada. I have a Samsung A03 Core that as the exact same LTE bands as your Xiaomi and I can get data access from the Fizz network with this phone in Toronto from towers that use LTE band 7 as well as phone service from UMTS band 5 on the Rogers networks (Fizz EXT).

You say that you "have no mobile internet". So, exactly how far do you get? Does your phone register on any network? Try to determine what network you are on. Upper left corner on the lock screen, does it say Fizz, Fizz EXT, Emergency calls only, or No service?

If it says Fizz or Fizz EXT, try to make a phone call. This may not go through due you not having any credit in your account for phone calls, but that should get you a text message prompting you to add funds and/or buy addons. Please note, it may take a long time for the call to go out due to the phone not finding Fizz 3G service and having to select one of the 3G roaming network towers to attempt the call (expect 15 seconds).

If you get this far, your phone has successfully registered on a network and your plan is active.

How strong is your signal, i.e. how many bars to you get? When you turn off WiFi and turn on both Mobile Data and Mobile Roaming for your Fizz SIM, do you get a 3G, H+, 4G, or LTE icon in your phone's status bar? Also, would you be willing to provide your rough location, city or county, so we can assess coverage in your area?

The withdrawal of the 3G network will start July 31, you need a Fizz LTE Compatible device https://fizz.ca/en/faq/compatible-devices

    Hello Jojobest,
We are sorry to hear about the situation encountered with your mobile data after activating the plan into your Fizz account.
After making the necessary verifications into our tools, we noticed that you were able to discuss with the online customer services by Live Chat.
They recommended you to try to connect manually to the Fizz network, as the users from here already suggested however it did not work even after restarting the phone.
Your mobile data situation was fixed after the agent suggested you to reset the network settings from your phone and we were able to see that currently your data is being used from the plan.
In case you will encounter any issues, you can reopen the Live Chat conversation and you will be assisted further.
To do that, please access this link: https://fizz.ca/en/support
    Have a wonderful day.
