If I buy a travel data add on 2 days before I fly, will the add on start decreasing ?

I would like to buy a travel data add on before I fly. Doing a financial transaction in a foreign airports public WiFi does not appeal to me. However, when I read this forum regarding travel add ons, I read that they are immediate after purchase. So my question is:

If I bought the add on 2 days before, how will fizz count my data??

Example, I’m in Canada on a Wednesday and purchase a 5gb data travel add on for United States. My flight is Friday, but I use my phone as normal on Thursday and use 1gb. Does that 1gb come off my normal Canada plan? Or does it get deducted from the travel add on?

Thanks

I've done this before. The travel data from the add-on will only get used when you are in Roaming. Just to be safe I would keep Roaming off while you're here, and turn it on when you are at your destination. When I did this every time, regular Canadian data kept getting deducted while I was here, travel add-on (in my case UK) was deducted while I was in the UK, then when I came back it went back to deducting from my Canadian data. The leftover add-on data just sat there until it expired.

Also keep in mind that travel add-on data expires at the end of the NEXT billing cycle. So let's say your billing cycle is on the 23rd of the month, you buy it right now, it will expire on the 23rd of November.

    Safe trip!

    Hello @Franko909 ,
    Thank you for your post.

As the other members already informed you, the Travel Add on will work when you are outside the country.

Even if this is purchased in advance, while being in your coverage zone, the data from your plan will be used.
In this case, when arriving to your destination, you will need to activate your Roaming option from the phone and connect to a partner network from there in order for the services to work.

Here are more details regarding the subject: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/im-travelling-outside-my-coverage-zone-what-are-my-roaming-options

    Have a great day.
