Internet constantly cuts out, and when it's on it's slow

Internet cuts out all the time, it's down more often than it is working.

When it's working, it's slow; recent speed test was 1Mbps, but often it's so slow that the speed test page can't even load.

  • I have verified that coaxial cable is well screwed and not damaged
  • The modem is connected directly to the electrical socket, without using an extension cord
  • I tried restarting the modem by unplugging it for 30 seconds -didn't help

I work from home, this is maddening.

Any advice other than changing provider?

    Hello Halina

    We're sorry for the inconvenience.

Does the issue happen on both Wi-Fi and Ethernet?

Could you please factory reset your modem and test out the services for some time? This can be done by locating the reset button, which is situated on the back side of the modem just above the Ethernet ports. Using a small, sharp object, such as a pin or paperclip, press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds, until all of the LEDs on the modem turn off.
It's important to keep in mind that resetting the modem to its factory settings will erase any modifications that have been made to your Wi-Fi modem settings thus far. As a result, you may need to reconfigure your devices' Wi-Fi settings, including the network name and password.
