Hi, I just installed my new Internet with Fizz. I activated the modem and after I switch off the passerel to used my how router. I speedtest with multiple devices (Ethernet and Wifi) and each come up with a speed of 100/30. Why?

    Hi @Teuehikan

If it was working before, try to turn off the modem and router for a minute or two

If it doesn't work reset the modem and try without the router, if you have full speed you need to check your router configuration

There are too many variables to account for here. Support can help you pinpoint your specific issue but here are some questions to ask yourself.

    The most important ones being:

Are you using old ethernet cables that can't support that speed? (example: Cat5 only supports up to 100Mbps)

Are you behind a wall(s)? On the 5Ghz band a wall can significantly cut down your connection speed.

Most likely not the issue but you can check anyway:

Do you have any extra devices between your modem like a switch?

What are you using to do the speed test?

Did you try the built-in diagnostic test?

What was your speed without your router?

    Were you getting 400/50?

If so then your router may not be a Gb router. That would limit your speed to 100.

    Hello Teuehikan ,

Sorry to hear about the issue.

I verified your modem`s signals and everything appears to be in normal readings.

There might be an issue with your own router , so I suggest that you factory reset the Fizz modem , redo the installation steps as shown here : https://fizz.ca/en/faq/how-install-my-wi-fi-modem and redo the speed tests to confirm if the issue is from the Fizz modem or not.

Reach our customer service here : https://fizz.ca/en/support if the issue does still persist on the Fizz modem specifically.

    Have a good one,
