Why does it say I need to enable roaming even though I'm inside my service area?

Roaming is required as the phone moves from a Fizz network to a partner network, including any partners in Canada or in other countries, however, rest easy, as with Fizz, there is no roaming charges when you leave their network.
If you leave the Fizz network, and enter (roam) on their partner network in BC with a BC plan, your phone will work with no extra charges
If you leave BC to elsewhere in Canada with only a BC plan, your phone will not work, but will not incur any extra charges for roaming as your phone will not roam, it will just not work.
Same for if you leave Canada and don’t have a plan for the country you are going to.
Here is a link to the coverage map.For the extra 1.00 a month for the Canada plan, perhaps consider it, as once you have it, you can keep it forever.
I bought the Canada/USA plan which only added 3.00 a month.

Hi @Jessicanxl
Probably you are connected to Fizz Ext, with Fizz you will not have extra charge!
Check this guide
New to Fizz?
The name of the network indicated on your phone will not initially say Fizz. Instead, you will see Fizz EXT. We are aware of this situation and are working to address it. Rest assured, your phone is not roaming, and you will not incur any charges. Simply restart your phone 72 hours (that’s 3 days) following the activation of your SIM card, and all will be in order.

It appears like that if you are in an area with signal from a partner network but you will not be extra charged. Restart your phone after 3 days from activation. If this will not solve your problems you can still contact customer service department.

Hello Jessicanxl
As some of our customers already stated, for some time, in our Beta regions the network will be Fizz EXT. Since it is Fizz EXT, in order for the data to work, roaming needs to be activated.
Rest assured that no extra fees will be deducted; you can freely use your services.
More details regarding Beta can be seen here https://fizz.ca/en/faq/what-are-details-and-conditions-beta-test-period
If you have other questions, feel free to contact us directly by accessing this link https://fizz.ca/en/support
Have a good rest!
