Hello, I was with videotron previously and since im with fizz I have problems with my internet. I was able to stream netflix in my bedroom that is at 30 feet from my router and now the wifi is always on and off in my bedroom. Is there a solution and is there a maximum range for the router?

Hello! I'm sorry to hear about the Wi-Fi issues you're experiencing with Fizz. Transitioning from Videotron to Fizz and facing a decrease in Wi-Fi quality can be quite frustrating. Here are some potential solutions and considerations:

    1. Wi-Fi Range and Interference: The range of a router can vary depending on its make and model. Generally, most standard routers should cover a range of about 30 feet (9 meters) without too many issues, but walls, furniture, and other obstacles can interfere with the signal.
    2. Router Placement: Moving the router to a more central location in your home can sometimes improve the Wi-Fi coverage. Avoid placing it near metal objects, microwaves, or cordless phone bases, as these can cause interference.
    3. Wi-Fi Extenders or Mesh Networks: If relocating the router doesn't help, consider using a Wi-Fi extender or setting up a mesh network. These can significantly improve coverage in areas where the Wi-Fi signal is weak.
    4. Changing Wi-Fi Channels: Sometimes, changing the Wi-Fi channel on your router can reduce interference from other nearby networks. You can access your router settings to experiment with different channels.
    5. Update Router Firmware: Ensure that your router's firmware is up to date. Firmware updates can resolve various issues and improve performance.
    6. Using a Different Router: If the Fizz router doesn't meet your needs, you might consider using a third-party router that's more powerful. You can connect this to the Fizz modem and potentially get better coverage and performance.
    7. Contact Fizz Support: If you continue to have issues, reaching out to Fizz support is a good step. They might be able to offer specific solutions or replace the router if it's faulty.
    8. Quality of Service (QoS) Settings: If streaming is a priority, adjusting the QoS settings on your router to prioritize streaming services like Netflix can help improve your experience.

Remember, Wi-Fi signal strength can be affected by various factors, including the layout of your home, the construction materials used in the walls, and other electronic devices. Trial and error with some of these suggestions can often lead to noticeable improvements.

    Hi @Kronos

The Fizz modem is known for having an average WiFi range, but 30 feet is not considered a significant distance. If you don't have a large shield between the two locations, this should be achievable."

    • Ensure that the Fizz modem is placed in a central location within your home. This helps distribute the WiFi signal more evenly.
    • Reduce interference from other electronic devices that may operate on the same frequency. Devices like cordless phones, microwave ovens, and baby monitors can interfere with WiFi signals. Keep these devices away from the modem or switch to devices that operate on different frequencies.
    • Log in to your modem's settings and experiment with different WiFi channels. This can help you find a less congested channel, reducing interference from other WiFi networks in your vicinity.
    •  If you have dead zones or areas with weak WiFi signals, consider using WiFi extenders or repeaters. These devices can amplify the signal and extend coverage to hard-to-reach areas.
    •  If the above steps do not provide a satisfactory solution, you might want to invest in a mesh WiFi system. Mesh systems consist of multiple devices that work together to create a seamless WiFi network with extended coverage.

I personally opt to use my own router, which also gives me more features
