Can't determine if my Samsung Galaxy A20 is VoLTE compatible
When I look at Videotron's guide to enable VoLTE for the Galaxy A20: https://videotron.tmtx.ca/en/topic/samsung_galaxya20/using_voice_over_lte_volte.html#step=5, I don't see the option to enable VoLTE calls under the Mobile Network screen.
If I start a phone call, it switches from LTE to 4G. It goes back to LTE when I end the phone call. From a previous post on these forums, that's a sign the phone is not doing VoLTE.
The Galaxy A20 is also not listed under the list of compatible phones on Fizz's website: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/compatible-devices#3
So I'm really at a loss here. Why would a Galaxy A20 on Videotron have the VoLTE option, but not mine on Fizz when these are technically the same network. Is it normal that, at this point in time, my phone calls show 4G instead of LTE?
I'm on the latest Android updates. The phone reports that there's nothing to be updated.

Hi
We can say that 4G and LTE is almost the same thing, if is not switching to 3G you are ok, the phone are made in VoLTE, the switch to enable is not visible, Fizz seems that disabled it.
The certification is done by the providers, this is the reason wht the list is not the same

Hello Chrrs,
Thank you for your question,
The VoLTE option as long as you use the Fizz SIM card, it will be turned on by default and you will not see the option in your mobile.
If you take the SIM card out, the VoLTE button will show up in the right menu again.
The LTE network translates to 4G. Depending on the phone, you could see while you place a call 4G or LTE. If you see one of the 2, then your call is made through the VoLTE network.
More details here: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/why-volte-important
While we use the Videotron infrastructure, there are parameters that are unique to Fizz.
You may dial this code: *#*#4636#*#* and you should be able to see in your Samsung that the VoLTE is enabled already.
Thank you for your time and understanding!
Have a good day!
