Technician said my modem was old?
I moved to a new place recently with the modem I've had with Fizz since the beginning, about 3 years ago when I signed up. When the technician showed up he asked me if that was an old modem/router and saying something like it might be slow because it's old. I just didn't see anything about this in Fizz emails so I was wondering if someone knew anything about it.

Hello almalexiel ,
The technician might have said to replace the modem due to it being old as all things could function a bit slower as time passes by.
Now, from what I verified on your account, it looks like the modem itself is in good standing and the signals are great, but there are some connectivity issues on the 2,4 Ghz band and a few power issues.
You accused some slow speed issues also recently, so I suggest that you check the modem`s cables ( to confirm they are not damaged ) and test the modem in another power outlet.
If possible, try to relocate the modem in another place ( if it`s a bit isolated or between thick walls or near generators or even a microwave ) , since this is where the connectivity issues might appear from.
Some details can be found here also : https://fizz.ca/en/faq/my-wi-fi-network-slow-how-do-i-make-it-faster
On a side note, the modem that you have, everyone has - there is no new generation of modems, to say so.
If there are still issues, I suggest reaching our colleagues on Live chat, for further investigations.
Thank you for your understanding.
Have a good one,
