Auto Installation - Moving
Hello, I am moving and have selected the "self-installation option' in my account, but the website keeps asking me to schedule the visit of a technician in order to proceed. My understanding of the self installation option was that I could select the date and time of my choosing to activate the internet and did not need a technician. Could you please clarify if this is normal?

Hi
if you don’t have a previous fizz certified cable that is the procedure. It is a self installation for the modem.
the Tec will come to check the cable if present or install it, and it will give you the modem but you need to install and configure your self.
the vip installation is the tech will install the modem and configure for you

Hello Ash,
The technician visit is normal , as you will carry the modem to your new location but the technician will be the one that will make sure that the connection itself can be established and he will be the one to also activate your plan after he verified that everything is in order at your new location.
You can then install the modem as you initially did by following the details found here : https://fizz.ca/en/faq/how-install-my-wi-fi-modem
Thank you for your understanding.
Have a good one,

As it was mentioned in the other post, if there was no Fizz service previously, the Tech needs to come to check or install the cable, etc.

Usually with the Easy Self-Installation option you do not need the visit of a technician, you will be sent the modem, and after you receive it you will be able to activate it online through your account.
That is if you have already had cable internet set up at your address, like if you are switching from another cable provider.
I have recently made the switch successfully and never scheduled a technician visit. Best to contact Fizz support to make sure your account is set up correctly.

It is normal! Proceed with the appointment...

I believe what you are saying is only valid if you previously had an internet plan provided via cable, the same as Fizz...
