There is no option to keep the number active for so long if you plan to leave for 4 months sadly,
You can either adjust your plan to the lowest coverage and keep paying for a small fee to have the number active : https://fizz.ca/en/faq/how-do-i-change-my-mobile-plan or you can unsubscribe, then reactivate the number in less 60 days days with a lower plan then unsubscribe and reactivate again in less than 60 days to once again keep the number active.

No, you will have to keep the smaller package. You can also port your number to another provider, such as VOIP, which may cost less.
