Ping time is unstable

Hello!

to network guys out there: is there any network maintenance going on that affect south shore Montreal? if not, why ping time is all over the places?! and 23% packet lost?!!

    freesqrtglad the problem has been resolved for the moment.

    Unfortunately customers do not have access to check the Fizz modem/router log.


    If the WiFi issue returns, you can opt to disable the modem's band steering function.

    Also if you are having WiFi issues, you can try to pick a better channel. There are apps (you can search on your app store with the keyword wifi analyzer) that they will help you to pick an optimal channel.

    This change can be applied through the Wi-Fi modem user interface:

    1. Log in at: 192.168.0.1 from the web browser of any device.

    2. Log in using the following information:

    Username: cusadmin and your wifi password

    3. Go to the next section to apply changes:

    Wireless → General Settings → 5GHz → Band Steering (Disable)


    Also try to change channel

    A series of channels are available on each frequency (2.4 and 5 GHz) of your Wi-Fi modem. Interference can have an impact on these channels.

    Manually changing the channels used for your Wi-Fi connection can improve your modem’s signal.

    Wireless → General Settings → 5 GHz → Wireless channel

    And also for the 2.4Ghz: Wireless → General Settings → 2.4 GHz → Wireless channel

    freesqrt, have you tried restarting the modem?

    If you are testing the service via Wi-Fi, can you retry using a wired connection to the modem via ethernet cable?

    Regarding the service status, only major outages that affect a large number of clients (if not all) are mentioned there.

    Local maintenance works are usually finished in a couple of hours so they are not mentioned.

    The number of packet loss is really hight ! You are on WIFI or by Ethernet Cable ?

    thanks guys!

    the problem scope turned to be wifi connection between my laptop and the access point! so no internet access glitch here!

    it went away after restarting the router! but I dont think it is a good workaround. does anybody know how to check the router logs?

    IF the Fizz routeur give you problem you always can use another , better, router.
