Some Fizz members were targeted by a text message phishing
Fizz is aware that some of its members were targeted by a text message phishing attempt this weekend. Our security teams have been alerted and are investigating.
We recommend our members to destroy the said text message, and take this opportunity to remind you to never provide confidential information without having first checked the origin of the website where they could be redirected. More info on how to protect yourself can be found here.
As any other big enterprise and public body, Fizz is not immune to such attacks.

So i'm guessing our personal informations have been leaked ? Otherwise, how is that possible ?
Before saying "thank you fizz" i'm really gonna need an answer on this one. If a fraudster tried to target some of us, he had to have a list of these informations in hand (name, phone number and that we are a client of Fizz). That's also brings the question "what else does he have ?"27 -
Thank you Whizz! We will be careful.25

always be careful about how and with whom you share personal .23

Long story short got a president's choice credit card which i only used at maxi loblaws or provigo and ì never went to provigo card was charged for internet purchases of calling cards 500 dollars worth when i called fraud department they said they were aware of the fraud but could not tell me anything or would not! There's only 2 places where it could have been compromised and it was their own stores or their head offices i presume.21

Forgot to mention I received this phishing text this morning but did nothing about it found it strange that 2 days before my card is to be charged they're saying my card was declined. Came to the site here but saw no message so did nothing but thanks for this info does kind of put my mind at ease though these things happen we have to be vigilant and not hand out info willy nilly19

thanks for letting us know18

Not very reassuring, what fizz does against it?18
-
Yeah, I suspected as much when I received the text.16
-
Yeah. My wife received a text saying she was out of data and I received a text saying my payment didn't went through. In both cases, a link to login was included which was the reason I tought I was a scam attempt: Fizz NEVER includes link asking you to login.14

Whizz,
Unfortunately, i received one.
I erase it automatically.
It's not a funny situation.
Thank you to investigate on this.11 -
Thx for letting us know.9

I'm with Sebastian, if this fraudulent text was sent to Fizz users and not to other carriers' customers, it would look like this was a leak/hack at Fizz. Fizz has a responsibility to share information with users as it is available. We need more information on what may have or what did happen and what Fizz is doing to correct the issue and work with authorities to catch/punish the perps.7

Important warning for everyone.
Sunday, some members alerted us about a questionable text message received from Fizz. It was indeed a phishing attempt. Don’t worry, your account is safe. The case is under investigation with our security experts.
It’s always a good idea when you receive text messages from us to check the following elements:
Origin of the text message: our text messages are identified as coming from Fizz, not a phone number.
Link: when we insert links in our communications, they start with https://www.fizz.ca or https://fizz.ca.
Action required: any action required in our text messages can always be completed without having to click on the link, and done instead by yourself via the website or your account.
Quality of the English: we put a lot of efforts in our messages, and we are proud of the quality of the English. If you see a spelling mistake or an awkward sentence structure, it’s a good clue as to the origin.
Security is our top priority, and protecting your personal information is important to us.
If there’s any doubt, contact us by chat.
