Technician refused to verify internet is working

Just got my modem. It clearly indicated on your site that a technician will wait in his truck until I confirm internet is working. So I asked him to wait and he said no, just follow the instructions. Furthermore he wanted to come into my place instead. Now I'm stuck with no internet.

Did you connect the modem? You need to leave it connected for 15 minutes the first time.
